So is the new rating system here to stay?
Part of Uber's beauty was that it was a shitpile. It was great being able to find a diamond in that shit. Uber was a place open for all to participate. You might as well just hang a sign on the door that reads, "Uber Clique Only" now.
Why not have the plebes submit five stories before acceptance into your club while you are at it?
Is Uber going to become one big circle jerk? Who is the pivot man? I call, "Not it".
Rather than just bitch I propose a few changes that could help everyone.
1. How about an ignore feature?
2. How about a frontpage filter that allowed users to sort stories based on any preference they wish and it remembered those settings when you log in.
3. How about bringing back random joes? Getting rid of random joes has produced 100's of alts. People NEED a way to be anonymous!

That's a nice thought Wolf but the cliques will just abuse their ability to kick off writers they don't like, especially with all the alters around here it won't be hard to revenge-boot posts off the front page. I for one happen to LIKE real freedom.

Here's a crazy idea: Why not put some effort into a post to keep it on the front page? I know that's mighty progressive thinking but bear with me here, for I have a brilliant hypothesis: If it's not a piece of shit, it stays up front for all to see. If it IS a steaming pile, then it gets it's fifteen minutes and gets booted to obscurity of page 2. I know it seems like madness, but it just might work.
I remember how discouraging it was to put up a story I'd worked hard on, revised and finalized only to have it jammed down the list by 42 Ha Ha Rabbit posts (don't get me wrong. I do love that rabbit). It slips on to page 2 with a great rating on a dozen reviews, never to be reviewed again. That's discouraging for people who actually work at their craft.
Random Joes are a bunch limp-wristed pansies, too scared of the mighty -2 sword of retaliation to rate under their own username. They're cowards. Although, I will concede that some of the best comments in the history of this site were from RJs. It's the principle of RJs that annoys me. If you won't use your own account (which, according to psychological standards, is already an alter-ego) to leave a comment, what kind of chicken shit are you, really? Do the retaliatory -2s and negative comments sting that bad? Is there some kind of actual physical pain or detriment they cause? Here's another insane idea: Rate each post objectively. That's all. If you can, don't even look at who the author is.
RJs had to go, not only because of KoolMang and his antics, but because this site was attracting more and more people. Remember, it wasn't just established users using them; anyone from anywhere could leave a comment. With the site growing seemingly exponentially, I can't imagine the kind of pressure that would put on the servers. Uber is just now in it's adolescence and has not yet fully matured. Change will happen. It's inevitable.

You don't need to submit X amount of stories until your accepted. Take Axolotl for example. His first posts kicked ass. It took him forever to get a negatively rated post.
My second post raised positive ratings.
If you suck you get -2's.
If you start going on about its not me its Uber(weber) then you get -2'd

My STORIES consistently got positive reviews. My fourth post was an attempted SPT with general musical naziism, which got somewhere around a -.4 rating.
