Ways to tell if you are a Homophobe:
1. You don't go to Gay Pride rallies.
2. You ask your girlfriend politely whys he is going to a Gay Pride rally.
3. Get asked why should you care.
4. State very confidently that there is no such thing as Gay Rights, there is only Gay Acceptance.
5. Get asked what the fuck did you mean by that.
6. State very politely that it is now against the law to discriminate against homosexuals, and the parades and the like are just a way to push tolerance and acceptance among people who do not tolerate and/or accept the homosexual lifestyle choice.
7. Calmly ask why YOU care.
8. Be reminded that just because one is not a particular member of a club, that doesn't mean you can't show support.
9. With very much contempt be told that just because you aren't black I would expect you would support the civil rights movement had you been alive at the time.
10. Now in a very sarcastic tone tell her that the captivity, the oppression, and the abuse of Africans brought to America by slave traders does not even hold a candle to the fight for the right to party - ass-out and wearing leather pasties.
11. -2 die.
Congratulations, you are now a HOMOPHOBE! And a special BONUS! You are now an idiot for arguing civil rights with a very hot black actress/model. You will not nook for some time.

No, I would not. If it means that extended families take care of each other in the way that extended familes used to take care of each other before the cost of living and of dying became oppressively high, then I'm all for it. With the sorry general state of healthcare in the US, the easier it is for people to be covered by health insurance that isn't government-provided, the better. Certainly it would be open to abuse; think of a street gang becoming a Civil Union and therefore exempt from the requirement of testifying against other gang members. But breaking the Civil Union by any member of it would be as easy as obtaining a legal divorce - not in the least bit difficult. Would my insurance costs rise if AIDS-infected people got married to get the insurance benefits? Maybe, but that would (or at least should) be offset by the reduction in the drain on the Social Security system that currently provides thenm healthcare.

The gay marriage issue is tired. Save the word "marriage" for the Bible-thumpers if they must have it, call anything else (gay, more than two participants, whatever) a "Civil Union" with the same legal benefits and responsibilities as marriage, and move on to something important.

I am not trying to get into a religious debate about if homos are ok, then humping your brother is ok. I am driving towards what is the point of a civil union? If it is just a partnership between two people where they share health benefits and get legal authority (immunity from testimony and some other random "benefits"), why wouldn't you do it with just a friend or your brother if you needed healthcare cheap (maybe this only applies in the US).
I mean what is the benefit to society to have civil unions? Marriage is supposed to make it easier to start a family and have kids and I know it doesn't always work this way but I don't see how adding another classification of "legal relationships" helps.

I say call gay marriage a Civil Union. Let them have a wedding (there's no law against a party) but don't force any particular church to marry them (as we don't force churches to marry hetero individuals that they don't want to marry). Give the two fags living together the same legal and financial benifits as every other couple out there and just leave them alone.
For all those who believe marriage is between a man and a woman (and I'm one of these people) we just leave them alone and we don't have to call them married if we don't want to.
Side Note- I don't like much of the gay rights movement, and I despise the Gay Pride movement. If sexual preference is a private matter noone has the right to interfere with why are so many gays eager to take this "private" sexual preference and pervert it into it's own culture and parade it around for the whole world to see. Then again, so many homosexuals are just fucking insane...
