A coworker was forced to send out an e-mail apologizing "for sending a disturbing picture." The picture is included below. Apparently some uptight, ignorant American (like there's any other kind) was offended by the thought of eating a guinea pig. That's funny, I just spent a weekend with a couple of Peruvians extolling the recuperative powers of a properly prepared guinea pig after a night of heavy drinking. See, in a world with 6 billion people, you may sometimes be confronted by a culture that differs from your own. It is terrifying, I know, but offensive? You're offended by someone else's food? I bet you wouldn't think twice about sending a picture of a nice, juicy steak to a coworker, but you can offend the HELL out of a Hindu by doing so. Be careful folks, every time you leave the house you run the risk of meeting someone different from yourself. Your best bet is to lock yourself in your home, turn off all the lights, and wait for the "All Clear" message from the government. They're working on it...

Its definitely in bad taste if you're using your work e-mail. At work you have to respect your co-workers's relegion, beliefs and allergies. What if some vegetarian PETA psycho saw that. Sure you could send it to friends from home, but at work, I can see the reason for an apology.

Loki, there was more to the story, but when I wrote it all out, even I got bored by it. If you really care (which would be odd), someone started the e-mail thread by saying their guinea pig just had some piglets, and if anyone wanted a free one to let him know. Now the dumbass chose to send the e-mail to the whole company, rather than sending it to himself and BCCing the whole company. Given that I work with a bunch of computer programmers (i.e. children), everyone felt the need to Reply To All with their favorite guinea pig recipe (Dog bless google). The gentleman in question replied to one of the recipe e-mails with the picture. The whole long and boring point is, um, there is no point. I thought that's what the "no content" label meant. Shit, I guess I should have said no content and no point :)

Let's start here, why did someone send this picture? Seriously, what was the point and what was the text that went along with it. I find it hard to believe that someone just e-mailed this random picture to everyone at work for no reason with no text and that someone got offended. Are you SURE that the picture was not intentionally sent to someone the sender knows has a pet guinea pig kind of in a haha look at what I will do to Scruffy or some shit like that?

cause my guess is that is more likely than the theory that someone just randomly sent this picture and that someone else randomly got offended

but

If nothing else, if this happened here, we would have been sent the e-mail policy and told that it is a waste of company resources to send out forwarded e-mail joke like crap.
