Apparently Fox News just couldn't resist. In addition to the revisionism they already offer on current events, they now appear hell-bent on bringing that same sense of journalistic integrity to past events as well in their series entitled "War Stories".
The premise of the show seems simple enough: show Americans in true heroic form in real battles from past wars throughout national history, glorifying the men, the generals, and the causes for which they THOUGHT they were fighting. This is done in, what I can only guess, an effort to put an even tighter grip on the already quivering cock of nationalistic sentiment that is set to explode in fiery orgasms on Tuesday.
This celebration of alzheimer's disease which is the Rupert Murdoch view of American history might has been around for a couple years now, but its disgraceful taint on the institutions of Truth, Justice, and the American Way is none-the-less poignant.
The opening sequence sees the show's host, Oliver North...I repeat...Oliver NORTH......once more in case you didn't catch that...OLIVER NORTH standing behind a barrage of patriotic imagery and flashing words on the screen. The words are such things as "Valor", "Courage", "Virtue", and "Bravery".
Let's play a game... Let's pretend for a moment that any of the wars in which America has fought at ANY point in its history have had a virtuous aim behind them. Ok, now hold that thought...no matter what your independent, contra-institutional education tells you, hold that thought. Now, I know it's difficult to lie to yourself and forget everything you taught yourself through independent, unsanctioned reading, but you can at least make an effort for the sake of Fox's ratings. Ok, got it? Good!
Now that we're properly blind-folded by the overwhelming urge to chant "U.S.A.! U.S.A.!" over and over again while waving a Chinese-made American flag in the air let us ask ourselves a little internal question: WHAT THE FUCK IS OLIVER NORTH DOING EVEN PUNDITIZING ON TELEVISION, LET ALONE HOSTING A SHOW TOUTING THE VIRTUE OF AMERICAN ARMED FORCES???
Honestly, I love our senior citizens and all - God bless 'em - but Jesus H. Fucking Christ, people! Get your silver-tipped heads out of your collective, prune-soaked asses, pull your withered bodies out of the memory hole, and get with the program!
I know it has been 20 years since Oliver North described the Iran-Contra affair as a "neat idea" before Congress and was subsequently convicted on 3 counts of felony, and I know you might think he learned his lesson when he was fired by Reagan and rejected in his bid for Congress in the 1990's, but did you really have to let this man further infiltrate your collective unconscious by allowing him back on your televisions today without flooding Fox with calls of outrage?
This only goes to support my idea that we need to systematically hunt down and KILL anyone who watches Fox News as a means for finding out what's going on the world on sheer principle. If you're telling me that it's now ok to allow a 3-time felon give us history lessons, I can almost accept that...but please, not around the 4th of July! That's just blasphemy.
It's sad that in this day and age we have to resort to Comedy Central to get anything even resembling real news: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVjxfxPiOjk
The other networks appear to be better suited to letting convicted felons give history lessons.
See...even Jesus can't believe it!

Perkman.
Seriously now.
I have to sit down now and cry because...
Because you INSULTED ME!
booooooooooooooohohohohohohohohoohoohoohoohoohoohoo
sob
sniffle
whimper
and the like.
You need to use insults that are:
A) Not almost 2 years old
B) Actually hurt
C) Not damn funny simply because they come from you.
D) Er. I hate lists.
E) I should have stopped at C.
Dipshit, if I actually cared, I'd be peeved.
but I don't.
I just think it's funny people hate me enough to actually go out of their way for me.
It's almost heartwarming.

1) Yay. You make more money than I do. Man, I... I can't describe the total pain and malaise that causes me. *sniffle* *sigh* You're still gay.
2) If I took this job all that seriously, do you think I'd be postig about it? No. If I took it super serious, I'd never say a damn thing about it, worried that something might come back to bite me in the ass. But as it stands, I have no issues calling an employee a wannabe rug ranger.
3) Again, as I have said many a time. You'll argue over anything I say, Caul. I could say, "Shit, I won $50 million in the lottery" and you'd come out with "Well, it's only 25 million pounds sterling, so it's not as much as you think." or some assanine shit like that, just to argue.

Caul, trying to figure out what you're reading...
Front desk of my hotel.
Well, being the manager, and only answering to the owner, who lives 1400 miles away...
And does it looks like I said my schedule was loaded?
I had done all my paperwork for the day. It took about 45 minutes. I had nothing to do. Wide open schedule. Thumb-twiddlingly boring day. I actually kicked back and read a few chapters in a book. Bored.
If I wanted to look important, I would have given details of the upcoming promotion and move I've been assured of in 6 months, or the meetings I have, or whatever.
But I don't, and I didn't.
Because obviously no one cares.
Duh, dipshit, duh.
===
I'm a lot younger than you and I probably make twice your salary, bitch. I also have plenty of responsabilities which a mentally disabled person like you could not handle yet you don't ever hear me detailed my work days. Nor do you hear anyone else do it for that matter.
You're the only here who desperatly looks for opportunities to say : "Well, you see I was busy MANAGING >>>MY<<<< hotel, (a hotel, no less!) and uh...I was VERY busy"
Just because you "upgraded" from rent-a-cop to hotel MANAGER (wow!) doesn't mean you're a white collar who rocketed through the high spheres of society.
There's nothing worse than someone who takes himself seriously. My cousin does the same thing but at least he has Asperger syndrome. What's your excuse? Oh right...SCHIZOFATTERY!

Then I insult you again, because I have yet to see a single insult here on Uber from anyone that's really all that damaging to me.

Shut up Jay, you fucking idiot.
I'll tell you one thing...if they started immediately cutting up the steel from the fucking building and shipping it to Asia and taking the rubble to the landfill without allowing investigators to have first-hand access to the crime scene, then YES, I would suspect something fishy was going on we did not know about.
But, then...why would they do that if they really wanted to know the truth. It is their JOB to investigate whether you confess or not, because it's important to know if you're the only one and aren't protecting someone else.

I could personally build a pipe-bomb, strap it to a 6 year old with a big ass sign saying "Jay Peg isw making me do this" send her into the Federal courthouse here in Denver, take pictures of everything, and then blow her up, get arrested, plead guilty and write a book about it, he'd still claim it was a government conspiracy to take down liberal judges or something.

Rob: so it seems we've managed to come to a virtual concensus on most points here, which is more than I can say for a lot of people with whom I engage in discourse on this website.
I understand your concerns over statements like "fuck the troops" and your reservations about such sweeping statements and their backward effect on intellectual progress.
The statement itself is, to me, not what's important. The way I see it, it is a means of whipping people into a state of curiousity as to WHY someone might think or say such a thing. In a climate wherein many people simply accept what they're told, and think only what they're expected to think, it's important to hear direct challenges to these viewpoints. I personally think that while the troops that act as the strong arm for the elite class of global bankers and industrialists that rule the world aren't directly responsible for the conflicts in which we have engaged since the industrial, commercial, and social revolutions that have shaped society, I think on a microcosm, personal level, they are directly responsible for their own decisions about what orders they will follow and which ones they will actively and openly challenge.
To live together in a society of free and conscientious men is, to me, of the utmost importance, and soldiers are not only NOT excluded from that, they are supposed to be the DEFENDERS of that high ideal. It is, after all, their charge. So while I agree that statements like "fuck the troops" of themselves can be counter-productive to that end, I think they are somewhat necessary in order to challenge the status quo. Such a knee-jerk statement cannot be fully understood without the context of a qualifying argument, which I think I have tried to present.
I think what the world needs are fewer 'politicians' and more men who are willing to speak frankly, even at the risk of personal ridicule. Trust me, if this conversation were taking place in person I probably wouldn't find a use for such phrases as "fuck the troops" because my standing on the issues and my demeanor in saying them would be much more obvious.

My pleasure... and don't worry about the insults, I have certainly chucked a few gooders over the fence myself. Besides, it's one of the more entertaining elements of this particular website- all the verbose insulting that goes on. I makes me giggle.
"All that being said, it seems one of the primary disagreements we have is over the simplicity vs. complexity of life and decision-making.
Don't get me wrong, I agree that decisions about the right and wrong course of action aren't always black and white, and their repercussions must be taken into account when deciding, but I am of the firm belief that the few simple guidelines laid out in the red letters of the New Testament are a pretty good place to start. Any decision, when weighed against this 'rock' of wisdom, really does become a simple one. It's by living as an example of what could be that will eventually inspire others to follow the same path of peace and brotherhood."
Couldn't agree more.
"I know I'm not the model for such ideals. I have no illusions about my personal faults and failings, but I believe that in each man's heart, there exists the understanding of truth and right, and if we can all but listen to it more intently and strive do the right thing, as it has been defined for us in the Sermon on the Mount, in all circumstances, we can create a better world and combat the REAL 'axis of evil' which sits in our own White House and in our own Congress in the form of BOTH Republican and Democrat."
Yer on a ROLL!
"My "fuck the troops" attitude is over-the-top and in-your-face simply because the din of approval and excuses as they pertain to our troops and their level of complicicy and responsibility are too loud to be overcome with a passive centrist view on this website and in this medium."
OK. Fine. We definitely diverge on this particular point. I don't believe in excusing the acts of ANY injustice, I just think it is of paramount importance to hold the right people responsible for the commission of said acts. Your "fuck the troops" attitude is not only offensive- I feel it is entirely misdirected. Be careful to toss the term "centrist" around- it is nothing more than a simplistic catch phrase used to categorize people who refuse to buy into the pre-existing left/right labels and it is of little productive value beyond marginalizing the people who are sick of everyone being marginalized!
Free thinkers. That is what this world needs more of. Educated opinionated individuals conducting civilized discourse on the issues that affect the world. Forming a plan that will solve said issues and then enact that plan with transparency and most importantly: accountability.
>sigh< now THAT would be the ideal.
"In short, I am not morally opposed to having a standing, well-trained armed force that is conducted with honor for defensive purposes. I do believe there is dignity in that, and I do believe that, as sad as it is, in this world, there IS a time to kill, and there IS a time to stand up in the face of an enemy and scream "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH". But I cannot and WILL NOT go along with the stream of nationalistic sentiment and put all the blame solely and squarely on the leaders at the exclusion of the soldiers themselves. Like I said, within each man lies the knowledge of right and wrong and not only do soldiers have the RIGHT under military law and God's sacred law to refuse illegal and immoral orders, but they have the DUTY to refuse them."
We are not so far apart at all. In fact I completely agree with you in principle. One thing that I think you are leaving out of the equation is that once "WE" are able to replace some of the more repulsive "leaders" that are effectively shitting all over this planet there will be a dramatic decrease in the instances of these so-called "immoral orders".
"This is my position and I've thought about it long and hard. I will not waiver in it. I cannot."
I absolutely think you have every right to embrace your own particular point of view... as does everyone.
All I have been trying to say this whole time is there are far more effective and less offensive ways to express and defend it.

"Rob: Ok, I've given this another minute of thought, and I don't think your heart is in the wrong place, but I think your head is definitely in the wrong place on a couple key issues, man."
SWEET, I am happy to hear that. My head is often in the wrong place on key issues, which is why I am so challenging. I WANT people to prove me wrong. I WANT to be educated. I WANT a few million dollars. (Well... I do.)
"Look, you can't change the world with another paint job."
Agreed.
"Being PC about things such as the military and excusing the troops who fight the wars for signing up for the military, you're keeping the cycle alive. Unless you cut OFF the emperor's arms, we will continue to abuse his powers."
Yes and no. Don't be so simplistic in your scope. This world is INCREDIBLY complex... but I do agree with your sentiment.
"Only by turning our backs to the institutions out of which the problems stem will we ever change anything.
I disagree... that is too limited in application and unrealistic to execute. Eventually the institutions that are responsible for the problems will be usurped by a NEW institutions that promote peace, goodwill and tolerance... but that is little more than a utopian fantasy but I think it serves as a pretty good ideal to strive for.
Conversation and proper planning would be a good start... which is why I think you should direct some of that manic energy you possess towards being proactive instead of just foaming at the mouth.
"We were given individual minds and a freedom of will from birth. It's time we ALL acknowledge that NO MAN ON EARTH gives us 'freedom'. Freedom is something that is inalienable and indelible within our spirit. You might say "well what if someone wanted to force you into slavery"? Then I say you have the right and the freedom to FIGHT THEM."
Amen!
"It is not by distorting the definition of 'freedom' or 'responsibility' as it applies to ALL MEN, including soldiers, that we will get anywhere."
Ok. I'll go with that.
"You're sorely mistaken that by finding the most centrist route possible in every political situation you'll affect any change whatsoever. Truth is often NOT found in the most moderate of places. In fact, truth is often painful, and it lies out on the fringes away from the eyes of those very men who would hide it from us."
Completely disagree. I think it is by promoting an actual dialogue and forming a realistic plan with full buy in from ALL people that we will ultimately achieve some level of salvation.
"I can't explain this any further without going in to a drawn out rant on the cycles of human life and thought and the golden rule."
Why don't you try.
"When you boil it down, friend, life is very simple. It really is. Anyone who tells you it's not is trying to sell you something."

I can be at times. Not in this case, however.
"I blame the troops as well as the generals and commander in chief... "
The commander in chief and the administration are most certainly to blame... but we only have ourselves to blame for enabling them to be in a position to GET blamed.

"You're suggesting soldiers have no free will. You're suggesting that sometimes it isn't better to do the RIGHT thing and be punished for it that to do the wrong thing and claim some kind of asylum behind the phrase "following orders"."
Actually that isn't quite what I am suggesting at all. I'm curious, do you actually lack the capacity to politely ask people what their opinions are? Maybe you just so used to people's knee-jerk dismissal of what you have to say that when someone comes along genuinely interested in dialogue you instinctively remain in ingnorant attack mode?
People have free will. Nothing I have ever written has suggested otherwise. What seems to slip through your limited capacity to appreciate what you have concinved yourself is "reality" is that the occupation of "soldier" does require a certain level of absolute buy in. As I mentioned, they are machines. The path to which they arrived in the service is irrelevant. They perform a duty. They stand a post. They exist so WE can exist. The tragedy is that established governments use their military for purposes that go far beyond protection and enforcing law and order. They actively misuse these machines... and WE let them through our disgusting apathy and poor choice of leadership.
"It's called FREE WILL, my friend, and a soldier has it just like anyone else in this world does, the problem is, they sign a piece of paper to the fucking devil, freely giving him (Uncle Sam) his mind and body as a SLAVE to be used at will. They ALLOW themselves to become brainwashed. Fucking pathetic if you ask me. (I am not as forgiving as some people.)"
Again, they are highly trained. They need to be in order to accomplish the sorts of things that are required to keep us civilians safe. Are there some malignant assholes that take the law into their own hands? Absolutely. As I mentioned there are rotten apples in every bunch. But the military has established disciplinary outlets and punishment for those shithead who act out of line.
"It takes but a moment of studying history to see that the United States' string of foreign conflicts are nothing short of murderous colonialism and empire building, so why even sign UP!? You have to have absolutely ZERO conscience to sign up for the fucking military. You have to be the type of person who thinks solely about your fucking self, or still thinks foolishly there is such a thing as honor in battle and freedom and liberty to be mined out of foreign conflict on foreign soil in a PREEMPTIVE FASHION."
There are many aspects of peace keeping that keep this world from falling into absolute chaos. Iraq is a fucking disaster. The other poor examples of American colonialism are not much better... but don't discount all the wonderful things that the United States does on a humanitarian level throughout the world just to satisfy your incessant need to prove a misguided point.
"Don't you fucking lecture me on how to behave. Let me ask you a question... It's a simple fucking question, but one that begs an answer... Would Jesus Christ ever be a soldier? What did he mean when he said "love your enemy"? Do you think he meant "blow their brains out"? "
I am NOT lecturing you... I am suggesting you smarten up because I hate to see all the important things you have to say wasted by your insistence on being such a fucking DICK.
Jesus Christ would not be a soldier, no. Nor would he sit on the internet and threaten to kill people who didn't "wake up". You definitely lose points for trying to leverage the teachings of Christ when you activly promote such a hateful, limited and exclusionary world view.
Again, shame on you.
"There is more going on here than you'll ever allow yourself to be aware of, skippy. I ain't sayin' I'm perfect, but by God, my decisions are AT LEAST mine, not someone else's."
Of course there is and I am fully willing to learn about all of it.
You are far from perfect and so am I. (I'm just closer than you is all.)

Rob: Ok, I've given this another minute of thought, and I don't think your heart is in the wrong place, but I think your head is definitely in the wrong place on a couple key issues, man.
Look, you can't change the world with another paint job.
Being PC about things such as the military and excusing the troops who fight the wars for signing up for the military, you're keeping the cycle alive. Unless you cut OFF the emperor's arms, we will continue to abuse his powers.
Only by turning our backs to the institutions out of which the problems stem will we ever change anything. We were given individual minds and a freedom of will from birth. It's time we ALL acknowledge that NO MAN ON EARTH gives us 'freedom'. Freedom is something that is inalienable and indelible within our spirit. You might say "well what if someone wanted to force you into slavery"? Then I say you have the right and the freedom to FIGHT THEM.
It is not by distorting the definition of 'freedom' or 'responsibility' as it applies to ALL MEN, including soldiers, that we will get anywhere. You're sorely mistaken that by finding the most centrist route possible in every political situation you'll affect any change whatsoever. Truth is often NOT found in the most moderate of places. In fact, truth is often painful, and it lies out on the fringes away from the eyes of those very men who would hide it from us.
I can't explain this any further without going in to a drawn out rant on the cycles of human life and thought and the golden rule.
When you boil it down, friend, life is very simple. It really is. Anyone who tells you it's not is trying to sell you something.

Knowing they're there and protecting our own shores in one thing. Fine, I can agree defence is the best policy, but can you HONESTLY tell me you think that DEFENCE is anywhere in the vocabulary of the United States of America?
I have 3 words for you: mutually assured destruction. When's the last time you can recall when two nuclear powers faced off directly? I rest my fucking case.
Bring the troops home and put their asses on the borders and wait until we are in imminent danger from a foreign power. No more of this preemptive bullshit that only creates more and more people to hate us. If 'terrorists' really want to bomb us, they've got some pretty good goddamn reasons if you ask me, unlike our reasons for bombing them, which are entirely based on LIES. You can't blame a country for the actions of one person either. If that were the case, the world would be bombing us right now for harboring Michael Jackson and Dennis Rodman.
I blame the troops as well as the generals and commander in chief because I seem to be the only one left that realizes they still have free will.

Fair enough, I'd agree with the bulk of that, with some reservations that would be just nitpicking semantics if I laid them out.
One of my best friends is in the military and has been for many years. I told him about an incident where two soldiers on leave from Iraq boarded a plane I was on (in america, obviously) and the cabin crew demanded all passengers give them a round of applause. You wouldn't believe the glares and subsequent bad service I received for not showing the "proper respect" and I discussed it with him to get another viewpoint on whether I really was out of line. He found it just as bizarre as I did and has never had a problem with my lack of additional respect (for want of a better term) for his decision to enlist. The kind of whooping and hollering hero worship response that is expected in america seems pretty distasteful to me, reducing the horrors of war to a video game or the people fighting to a sports team we show respect for, not by bringing them home or ensuring they do not need to fight, but by sticking a magnet to the back of a car.
I can completely understand how people sick of it could go too far in the opposite direction.

When you boil it right down to its most simplistic, if nobody was willing to kill anyone then nobody would get killed. It might be unrealistic, but it's not wrong.
Might be unrealistic?
Oh it's completely unrealistic... but it doesn't make it any less idyllic. Simply taking account of our brutal recorded history as a "civilization" we constantly take every opportunity to maximize personal gain and minimize competition. "Rules" are the necessary bi-product of generations of fucking over our proverbial neighbor. So far the only somewhat legitimate deterrent in curbing our natural proclivity to chaotically kick the living shit out of each other is law and order. "Troops" are little more than an extension of that establishment. The fact that our leaders, both domestically and internationally, collectively suck ass is not the fault of the soldier... it is OUR fault for allowing them to be used in such a horrible way.
"When you volunteer to enter the armed forces, you are volunteering to kill people you don't know for reasons that will never be fully disclosed to you."
That is only PART of it. Don't allow yourself to be distracted by the most viscerally unappealing aspect of the job.

There, is that any more clear to you? "
Listen, retard, the problem I had with you statement wasn't obscurity. Telling, however, that there are so many similarities between you and the merry band of ignorant fuckwits you accuse of not paying attention.
Your statement is offensive, its cheap, and most of all its stupid.
"The troops aren't the model of honor they're made out to be."
At what point did I make that assertion? I went FAR more high-level than your petty limited view on things.
" They are selected and formulated into what amounts to a mindless killing machine. What's to revere about that? I don't buy this notion that we have to worship the ground they walk on just because they are completely ignorant about what they're even really fighting for (i.e. to line the pockets of the wealthy elite and further our path of self-destruction and a false corporate-driven sociological structure)."
See, that's pretty much what I said... minus the bile. What exactly are we scrapping about here? I never said you need to worship anything, some god-damned respect IS emphatically suggested, however.
"I'm not a fan of hero worship or patriotism and if I WERE, 'the troops' would be at or near the fucking bottom of my list. "
Neither am I. And guess what- I never told you or in any way intimated that you should worship them.
"Don't get me wrong, I don't particularly HATE the troops either, and when I say "fuck the troops" I say it in the same way I might say "fuck Starbucks" or "fuck McDonalds"."
That's the problem with you fella, you are REALLY easy to get wrong. Mostly because you are so darn unlikable. Besides, not even 24 hours ago you actually told me you don't TRY to be polarizing... so does that, in fact, make you a liar?
"To me, the troops are party to the establishment that's driving our world into the fucking ground and I flat-out refuse to fall to my knees and worship them or anyone else for that matter. "
No shit. The only person you seem eager to worship is yourself.
"Spin that any ol' way you want to in a frantic effort to distance yourself from me and display to others "this just isn't what liberals really think". It's precisely people with your attitude of political correctness who keep this grand illusion of 'right vs. left' going and keep us all in mental slavery."
Spin? Are you so wrapped up in your own pathetic bullshit to notice that I haven't tried to spin ANYthing. Further to that- if you actually read what I actually have to say to/about you I do anything BUT distance myself from your positions you conceited little prick.
I am not a "liberal", assuming that only devalues your rapidly plummeting intellectual stock.
My attitude is cranky, but hopeful. Your attitude it petulant and decidedly negative. (not to mention borderline insane) Who has the more productive outlook? Hmmm?
The deepest irony is that you shatter any hope of civilized discourse by acting like such a turd. Oh sure the flock of mindless, apathetic, idiots who deepthroat whatever opinion is handed to them are equally to blame... BUT people as smart as you SHOULD know better and SHOULD have the capacity to communicate that knowledge... yet seem more content to piss everyone off, nail yourself to the cross and then bemoan the fact that no one gives a shit.
You are rapidly becoming a marginalized stereotype. A caricature of liberal insanity.
Stop being such a tool and smarten up.

All your arguments about their neccessity are based entirely on assumption borne of never having lived in a nation or a world without a standing army, and the only reference you have to people that didn't have a standing army are the ones that, for the most part, we (European colonialists and their decendents) butchered like so many cattle.
But those people were just a "machine". They were just "following orders".

I don't buy this notion that we have to worship the ground they walk on just because they are completely ignorant about what they're even really fighting for (i.e. to line the pockets of the wealthy elite and further our path of self-destruction and a false corporate-driven sociological structure).
I'm not a fan of hero worship or patriotism and if I WERE, 'the troops' would be at or near the fucking bottom of my list. Don't get me wrong, I don't particularly HATE the troops either, and when I say "fuck the troops" I say it in the same way I might say "fuck Starbucks" or "fuck McDonalds".
To me, the troops are party to the establishment that's driving our world into the fucking ground and I flat-out refuse to fall to my knees and worship them or anyone else for that matter.
Spin that any ol' way you want to in a frantic effort to distance yourself from me and display to others "this just isn't what liberals really think". It's precisely people with your attitude of political correctness who keep this grand illusion of 'right vs. left' going and keep us all in mental slavery.

Say ETS, Ms. Sheehan and a group of her buddies are fasting until the troops come home. They refuse to eat until the troops return. How about putting a little more on the line than your paltry $178 tax return? Or are you as certain that their hypocrisy will be revealed as I am?
------------------
It had crossed my mind. I think risking prison is enough for now.
If I was gonna fast for something, it sure as hell wouldn't be for the troops. Fuck the troops.
Sorry, but as far as I'm concerned they're nothing less than willing participants in a mass murder.
====
You honestly just wrote this?
You are fucking absurd.
The absolute last thing you should be saying is "Fuck the troops."
What possible good can come from saying such an unbelievably stupid thing?
I find it difficult to believe that someone with a painfully obvious Jesus complex would utter such a foul, obnoxious and shockingly pathetic statement... but there it sits. In all of its putrid shame.
Regardless of your own personal sentiment about the debacle of a "war" being waged in Iraq, or even any OTHER military interest that is taking place around the globe that involves some form of troop-like-figure you need to embrace the reality that without them, and people LIKE them, you would not have the luxury of civilization that ironically enables you to sit at your computer and piss people off.
Like or not, armed forces are the glue that holds international order in place. Not simply the American troops - but all global military. They are absolutely necessary.
Quite frankly your idiotic statement is so unbelievably repulsive that in good faith I seriously suggest you seek some sort of personal forgiveness from whatever divine being you buy into... or at the very least encourage someone to ninja kick you in the head.
I'm serious. "Fuck the troops?"
That is disgraceful.
What's even WORSE is you actually seem to hold them personally accountable for the atrocities they commit. They are machines. Flawed, certainly but they exist to serve and follow orders. Orders that come from the people in power... and WE put those people in power. What they do keep people like you and me safe, asshole.
Well... safe-ish (for now). Look, I know the system isn't perfect... but don't you dare misdirect your frustration. We need to change the people responsible for giving the orders.
Now, I can only assume that you are being melodramatic to prove your point... or you are cranky, or drunk... or maybe you really DO need your medication?(although if that IS the case, you definitely need to bring up this at your next meeting. Bad Progress Mr. Tooth.)
Either way, not cool man.
You might want to think about taking it back... publicly. (Obviously that is up to you; perhaps you get a kick out of being despised?)
I just think you can/should continue to focus on the actual atrocities being committed, and expose the evil political motivation and puppeteering that goes on over there with ZERO accountability and keep highlighting the public's malignant apathy and general proclivity towards willful ignorance.
It isn't winning you many friends, but saying shit like this will certainly lose you some.

"Well, he has to find some way of proving he's not me."
Not really. I find the paranoia quite amusing. Truth be told we do see the world in a very similar light. I just employ more tact, tend to be a little more reasonable and I think I am generally more likable than you are.
Yer a little smarter and have much more motivation than me... so it all evens out in the long run.
"Rob, I don' set out to polarize anything..."
See, I think you do... and the rub is even if you don't- your arrogant demeanor instantly invalidates all those astonishing things you have to say... and that people truly should know.
"If I were writing a serious essay, which I wasn't on this post, I would present the facts, give references, and leave it to the reader to decide which version of things they wanted to believe; unfortunately, the nature of uber is not and has never been condusive to constructive debate."
That's all fine and nice, but by being a dickhead 99% of the time will not encourage any intellectual participation when you are trying to be serious. I think this is a perfect place to have a constructive debate- I just think you are a poor debater.
"I get personally disgusted with people who are unwilling to see the truth and tend to think that person would be better off dying so as not to taint the future gene pool."
See, and that's just retarded. I am equally disgusted with willful ignorance, but here again is another perfect example of how your cuntish manner polarizes otherwise sympathetic people.
(oh, and if you are just trying to be funny... you fail. Miserably. )
"It's a personality flaw that I'm well aware of, but it should not, in itself, change the truth or falsehood of any of the issues I present."
No but it DOES dramatically affect the way people will respond to anything you have to say.
"An intelligent individual can separate the good aspects of an argument from personal differences of opinion. In short, even *I* agree with George Bush, Pat Robertson, and Bill O'Reilly *some* of the time...even while thinking they are liars, manipulators, and assholes."
No they really can't. People are generally retarded.
"The difference between them and myself is, they have an agenda driven by political advantage and money-making...I, on the other hand, being a pauper in the tech support arena have very little to gain by alienating myself for the sake of a message."
Um... you don't think you are alienated?
Maybe you ARE nuts.

Monkeys ARE bastards. I was watching something on the National Geographic channel the other day, and they kept showing an ad for some documentary about a pack of wild baboons that quote "harrass tourists, vandalize cars, and KIDNAPPED A CHILD (emphasis mine)". Then it showed a clip of one of the monkeys chasing people away from their car and then stealing all the stuff out of the trunk.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, Fox News is not the real enemy.

The fact that they are "exposed" gives them even more allure, NOT LESS POWER.
The devil cannot tempt or control minds without first showing a shiny object. In the mystery itself lies the power. If there were no mystery, there would be no power, and if they were totally secret that power would be considerably diminished.

Listen, this has NOTHING to do with 'left' or 'right'. Honestly, that's not just lip service. The same exact people run both sides and intentionally create this artificial fight between the two sides in a Hegalian effort to obfuscate the true reality they want to conceal: that THEY, not the voters, are in control, and they are slowly pushing us to give up our sovereignty and rights as a nation in favor of what would eventually become a worldwide, Big Brother-type dictatorship.
If you don't see that happening and you don't act against it by speaking out, you are actually unwitting participants in it. Whether you're on the left or on the right makes absolutely ZERO difference. The outcome of the neo-con agenda is ultimately the same as the outcome of the extreme left agenda. They both lead to dictatorship in the end.
It's already happening. And few people seem to be even raising an eyebrow. Just like a frog in boiling water...they don't raise an eyebrow either.

I'm not saying you shouldn't do good things, and be a good person in general, because that's probably the only, and best thing you can do.
I'm just saying that I don't believe that there's a way to fix all the problems you write posts about. I mean, do you agree, and if not, what causes you to think otherwise?
------------------
The problems I write about have one thing in common...truth. Plain and simple; I want the truth. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't believe as humans we can either be entitled to or aspire to more than that.
I'm sick of the blatant lies that exist all around us that are perpetrated simply for the sake of maintaining control over others. When I say they are everywhere, I mean the are EVERYWHERE.
It devalues human existence to live our lives in bubbles shielded from the truth like lifeless objects in a vacuum.
...................................
OK fella. Fine. Say we do buy into these theories of yours. So what?
What can be done about it? You have been painfully obvious expressing your distain for society in general... now is your chance. What would you do to make it better? I'd bet if you came up with some sort of compelling plan to make this world a more transparent, democratic, bright and shiny utopian wonderland we keep hearing about.
You do that and I reckon that might give you a little more credibility and even more importantly: greater buy in on the notion of actually trying to make some sort of difference in this fucked up world.
Until then, my friend, you are little more than a brilliantly verbose BE-yotch whose digital angst is remarkably underwhelming when compared to what is really happening in the outside world. (Which is why I think most people think you are full of shit, by the way.)
But seriously. I happen to think you are a pretty outstanding individual and will no doubt- even if by accident- do good things in this fucked up world.
I just think you need a plan. And to stop being so god damned abrasive.
---------------------
I'd like you to do me a favor... I'd like you to go back and read a couple of my more serious political essays and show me where I was being 'abrasive' in those. When you can't clearly find any abrasiveness but in the mind of the biased reader, I'd like you to explain to me what those had ratings of -0.1 to 0.0 consistently, while this actually abrasive one has a rating near 1.0.
Uber has it in its collective head that I'm preaching to them - and trust me, I am - so they lash out at me because HOW DARE I even ASSUME to teach them anything! They are all learned individuals and don't require the instruction of a poor Kentucky boy with 'mental problems' who lives in his 'mother's basement'.
Even if all that were true, which it's not, you can count on me for at least one thing...I'll never sugarcoat reality for a damn one of you. I'd rather bitch-slap you with the black cock of reality than offer you are pretty pussy full of lies to lick on.
How's that for imagery!
