----------------------

It was her eyes that attracted me the most. It wasn't that in the first place, I am ashamed to admit, it was much more her breasts and other areas that I had been interested in. Now it was the more subtly sexual areas of her body that aroused me. I could feel the blood rushing to my groin, simply looking into her vivid blue eyes. I wanted to stay with her but knew that I couldn't.

I really didn't have time to see her at all. My exhibition was opening, my big chance to join the elite of my field, but I couldn't resist. She had become my muse, my inspiration, even though she wasn't aware of it. I could have told her, but she would have continued to look at me with those hauntingly beautiful eyes and offer no response. She never spoke to me, although I loved to talk to her. Our love making was punctuated by a one sided conversation. It seemed like an almost integral part of our relationship, her silence in comparison to my almost compulsive speech.

She was beautiful. She should have been at the gallery that night, she would have eclipsed the other exhibits so completely, that all eyes would have been upon her. I could have sold her a million times over, but she would be the one piece which was not for sale. It seemed unfair that she should be locked away where no-one could appreciate her beauty.

"You like it that way. You don't want to share her with anyone.". The words of my subconscious.

They often spoke to me, particularly at times of high stress, criticising and haranguing me into self doubt, often offering me more inspiration than my muse. On this occasion they were wrong. I wanted to display her to the world. I wanted to show them that our relationship, however strange, was a fantastic thing.

"They wouldn't understand. They would think that it was weird."

What would I care what they thought? Our love was a pure thing, we both knew that.

"If you don't care then take her."

I couldn't do it. I asked her, but she didn't reply. Her silence was like a polite refusal and a reaffirming of our love.

I wished that I could stay, but it was getting close to the time of the opening. I had stayed longer than I should have done, but still I found it impossible to draw away from the stare of her eye, the slender line of her legs and the curve of her breast.

"Just stay. You are afraid. The exhibition is going to be a disaster."

A moment of doubt, but I had fought with the voices so many times in the months leading up to tonight that I couldn't let them win now. I walked away, still entranced by her beauty. Her unblinking stare told me that she would be ready to celebrate later.

I bade her farewell, no response, and closed the door as I turned and walked away to face my fate.

You're a beautiful man. I think what I've got lined up for the final will be right up your alley.

This was quality stuff, though I will admit (and maybe it was just the nsfw tag) I agree with those who said they saw the end coming. Quality prose, nonetheless.

This is really well-written, Dave, but I think the ending was a little too apparent for me.

... this really was a 1.5 because it was so short and I just didn't feel it.

The shock ending seemed kinda forced as well. Sorry, man...

It was good but you knew what was coming before getting to the picture.

I wish I didn't look at the picture first.

I'd say it's a 1.75. It was good, but it sort of didn't feel finished. (I'm probably just crazy.)

OH MY FUCKING GOD!

I THOUGHT I HAD ESCAPED ALL THE GORE FETISH PICTURES YOU SICK FUCK!

OH GOD.

It all happened during the magical summer of 1985. A maturing Joe
Piscopo left `Saturday Night Live' to conquer Hollywood; People
Express introduced a generation of hicks to plane travel; and I was
in a barbershop quartet.
