Forgive me for sounding overly patriotic but I grew up in Calgary AB and there is no other place in the world I would rather be. I love it here, the people are awesome. In the summer the biking is the best and in the winter we have some fucking fantastic skiing (or snowboarding if that is what you are into). We love our hockey and our Canadian beer but most of all we love being Albertan.
I love my city, I love my Province and I love my Country.
Here is a pictorial rendition of just a few of the reasons I will probably call Calgary my home for the rest of my life.

If you want to see mountains don't got to any of those cities except to pass through. Go to Jasper National Park for mountains, and not Banff. Banff is way more touristy and centered on the town and shopping and resort crap, Jasper is much more nature and wildlife orientated. Calgary is nice if you like to see farms, and BC has some fucking amazing forests. But Jasper is the best FUCKING EVER!

You know how I like to bitch out Canada, but...
The last time I visited my bro up in Calgary (during the Stampede), I had a fucking BLAST.
-The town had an almost American flavor, with Canadian sensibility. Nice mix.
-Cowboy hats and country music. Who the fuck can complain about that?
-Great landscape.
-VERY friendly people.
-Wall to wall girls in t-shirts, boots, and skin-tight jeans. Shitkicker heaven.

Phoenix has added some guys but I see this as a franchise that will continually be one step beind the quality-managed teams...like Calgary, Tampa Bay, Carolina, Buffalo...hell, even the Sharks have a plan and a budget.
They'll give Gretzky whatever money he wants to sign guys...they'll overpay (See: Roenick, Jeremy) for older guys...not develop any of their own players...and just continue to be "marginal" and average.
They kind of remind me of a team like the Chicago Cubs...doesn't matter what they do, or who they sign in the off season...they'll continue to tread water. It never works out for teams like this.
Look what that "genius" Isiah Thomas has done for (to) the NY Knicks. Highest payroll in sports...worst record in the NBA.

And FYI - No - I'm not unemployed. I work two jobs to survive. I have to with the cost of living being what it is. But I refuse to jump on the "big-money-in-oil-related-jobs" boat because I KNOW the effects it's reaping on that beautiful landscape you claim to claim to love.
