The way I figure, there are different types of Internet users.
1) The ones who have no clue what the fuck it is or how to use it.
Do I need to describe these? Of course not.
2) The ones who have an awareness of it and enjoy using it, but otherwise could care less.
These are the people who either don't care of have more important things to do.
3) The people who use it a lot and enjoy spending time in it.
This is, I think, most of us. Myself included. We are stuck on a computer all day, we communicate through email 90% of the time, and we can't help but become immersed. It's our world. But, we can unplug and live a normal life.
4) Then there's the real fuck ups that I'm ranting about. The people who fucking live THROUGH the Internet.
Here's my example, which set me off just yesterday:
A 36 year old man stays at home and takes care of his kid. His wife is wicked smart and makes the money in the house. So the guy admins a popular online forum.
But when you correspond with him, he acts like a fat, 600 lb, glasses-wearing, I'm Tuborg the Mountain Dwarf, Magic-the-Gathering loving, hide behind the anonymity of the Internet loser.
You know the type I'm talking about...
The type who thinks that admining an online forum means they have some kind of authority.
Basically, I was banned from the forum for flaming. It was questionable, I appealed the ban, and met with the attitude. I'm actually rather shocked, too, because I didn't think this forum was the home to ass-kissers and online-egotists; the kind who revel in their Internet authority.
So yeah, to be fair, I'm pissed. But I'm pissed because I couldn't believe there are actually people out there like this. I remember people being like this in college.
Maybe it has something to do with certain types of IRC users. I found out later this guy runs his own IRC forum.
What the fuck would happen if the Internet weren't so anonymous anymore. Most of the people who fight the developing laws about complete identiy disclosure are probably the ones who have pissed people off to the point of a beating.
FUCK!!
I'm AMAZED people like this are still out there.

I'm ranting about it, sure, but I'm not taking it out on people online just because I CAN and that's my only outlet.
Instead, I'll go out, have a beer, fuck my wife so hard so won't walk straight in the morning, sleep in, then make myself a huge fucking breakfast involving eggs, cheese, and meat.
THAT'S how a man handles shit when he can't beat the shit out of someone.
NOT by swinging around Internet authority.
To be fair, not ALL Internet admins are like this, but fuck the ones who are.
