I can't remember who asked for more draurings, maybe Manfre? Eh... well either way, I was going through my archives, trying to clean out my office, which looks like it was hit by a tornado, and I found a whole bunch of stuff from a software program - "A Field Trip to the Sea" - that I worked on about 5 years ago. I though this would be a fun pic to scroll through.
Yes, it's an original drawing, (laws, ya know) but I did use about a billion references.
Made in Photoshop using approximately 24,355 layers.

I used to draw. After looking at this, I will never try again. Thanks a lot!
Damn that's good.

I think that's a retarded attitude man! Excuse my brusqueness, but if you want to do something, sure it takes talent, but it also takes determination, and that sort of defeatist attitude will get you nowhere. You have to study and practice...at ANYTHING if you want to do it well.
and yea...Loren, again, this is awesome. I had no idea you even were an artist. I haven't been around long enough I suppose...or I was just blind. I looked at this and could not believe that it only had 6 hundred and something hits... so I linked it to the biggest hitwhoring post I could find, which was Gibberish's death post fittingly enough. :P

If it were Star Wars...then yes.
Do you make any money off of these things? Stupid question...it's your job, right? I believe you have found the key to happiness...getting paid for something you love.
God love ya.

Wow.
That's some awe-inspiring stuff, there.
And you used no filters at all, not even for the headlights? Wow.
Why don't we see some other submissions from you? I take it you just don't have time to work on the myriad "contests" here at Uber because of your work schedule? Or just the fact that you don't want to crush us Photoshop mortals? Hehe. I'd like to see more of your artwork.
Stay orange.

Why use so many layers? It's good n' all but.....why so many? I also dislike the way you've put "drauring". You do realise you're hampering your chance of my ever putting my penis in you, right?

Rokinroj - I work for an educational software company. This was before we went through huge changes, and I was in the media department - drawing, designing, animating - from concept to gold master. It was really challenging. Right now I'm back to my senior graphic artist postition, doing a lot of print work and photo manipulation, luckinly I get to illustrate a lot still... It's so much easier, it's like being on vacation. If I were still in the media department, I never would have discovered Uber. Yikes. :-)

Loren, You have seen my best photoshop work when I put Streetpunk and Bart together. So no need to tell you how awsome I think this is. I am graphically challenged.
What type of company do you work for. Obviously doing art/graphics, but like do you guys do advertising or book illustreation, or what?

It comes as naturally as does your seeming knack for pathetic insults. I didn't know giving someone a "Worth Reading" rating was so harsh.

Berz. I'm flattered. This IS basically what I do for a living - art. Plus all sorts of other designing and computer graphics and animation...
HarryHotspur - You're a bit annoying. Are you trying to be, or does it just come naturally?

I'm assuming you did all the creatures as seperate images and brought them into the main picture.
That gray one down in the lower right ... is that a self-portrait .... Hahahah ..... don't hurt me Eddie.

I'm picturing myself trying to draw something using my computer and I can think that will come out is some crappy pic with shaky edges as my hands shake uncontrollably from the ass-load of coffee I consume every day.
Good picture, Loren. You've got some talent.
How'd ya do it??

It's done by hand, but sometimes, when we are in a crunch get a project done, I trace over a basic outline of a subject to get started. But as we are in NO way allowed to copy directly, most of it is dreamed up (positions, etc.).
That's the Titanic in the background.
I use the full-sized Wacom tablet and pen. I haven't touched a mouse in years. When I do a drawing like this one, there is no advantage to using filters or effects, it just looks better to do it freehand. It can be just like oil painting, but without the mess. It's great fun to get paid to do what you love to do, but I do miss painting and drawing the "old fashioned way." Along with having so little time, and being generally lazy and uninspired, it's tough to get something done. Or even started for that matter.

I'm giving myself a +2 to counter HarryHotSpur's "uhh" 0. - what's the point? Oh wait wait, yeah, to be an asshole! Right?

How do you "draw" in photoshop? Do you use a tab and pen or just the mouse? Did you have images that you just pasted in or did you do everything by hand?

Loren do you still have your portfolio from your college days? I think it'd be interesting to see some good old 2D design drawings. Hehe.
As for this image, it got that stupid song "Under the Sea" from the Little Mermaid stuck in my head. (I had to watch the movie this weekend while I babysat for my cousin)
