I said to the love of my life 'I just need an excuse'.
An excuse to get the fuck out of this game we're all playing--get out of the culture, the rat-race, the slippery slope that is world power and politics.
I dream of owning land and building a life with my own two hands, from the dirt up.
This all came to me while thinking about dancing, and how I wonder if there are any dance moves that haven't been danced yet. I doubt it. I think every movement one could imagine has been experimented with, on a stage, in a club, in the bedroom.
All movement is limited by the shell we die in.
Is the goal of civilization to end itself in some heroic explosion? Or is it for the few among us to calm the sacred cattle from the front lines back to a nearer peace?
Tough choice.
Back to my thoughts: Years ago I imagined the 'Atlantis Project', a small scale exodus from the concrete jungles and hollow suburbia by a few good men and women. The plan is simple and beautiful--to start over in a place where the only rule is to respect life and the land that sustains us.
I've read that kids in the USA can eat up to ten pounds of sugar a week.
I've seen pictures of dead Iraqi kids, blown up by misdropped, sugarless American bombs.
Makes a lot of sense if you're psychotic--or if you're religious--these words are interchangeable.
Churchill said 'Democracy is the worst form of government'. I guess that's why there's a statue of him, pot bellied and cigar in mouth tough, in every major democratic country.

The Dutch teach their children of the sacrifice Canadian soldiers made on D-Day--but 11 out of 10 Canadian kids don't know what Juno beach was. I'm sure if they were asked their first reply would be 'where is Dutchland?'

Germany should invade Poland just for old times' sake.
Maybe throw a few thousand Jews back into the ovens at Auschwitz to see if they still work--sounds insane, but then again convincing a fundamentalist Muslim with explosives wired to his newborn son that Democracy is Freedom is a little insane too.
Live and Let Live is more of a standing joke around the Pentagon than a philosophy of humankind.
I hear Allah is a pretty cool dude, Jesus isn't too bad himself, the Buddah is too fat to cause problems, Scientologists are too busy fundraising and zapping each other with religious gadgetry, North Korea suffers from Napoleon syndrome, Hezzbollah are like those school yard bullies, nobody gives a shit about Norway, but that's how they like it--Israel is more of a state of mind than an actual place, Kashmir can tell you exactly what it's like to be stuck in between a rocket and a harder place, Utah is bursting with happy Mormons, San Fransico becomes the world's gayest place, but fashionable--and it's really fashion that counts, not substance.
War is the New Black.
I'm not dancing, not because every movement has been experimented with already--but because the crowd next to me carry concealed weapons and the Democratic sugar that kills kids.

My initial reaction is to abstain for now because I'm just not sure what direction this is going to take.
