At what point does a hostage become the captor? At what point does the man feeling the cold press of a .45 against his temple become the hand behind the barrel?
Apparently, it's the point when he has nothing left to lose.
Three days had passed since I tore Thane a new one, and suddenly I'm the sage. The only crimes I've ever broken are marijuana laws and speed limits, and suddenly I'm leading a heroin smuggling trip? What the hell?
I just hope something good comes of all this.
Ugh, back in the armpit of america, Ohio...everything there is ugly, boring, and worthless. The only good thing about this place is the fact that roads lead out.
But that's all behind us. Welcome to Indiana, home of the chop shop I made Thane find. Run by a man simply known as Bulldog, an amazingly well spoken ghetto thug. He didn't abbreviate words into near-retardation, and I honestly believe that if he had a taste of honest living, he would have grasped it early in life. It seems his passion lied in tearing apart stolen vehicles.
In another situation, I probably would have wanted to hang out in Indiana a bit longer, chilling with Bulldog, smoking some blunts, introducing him to the joys of glassware. As it is, he was simply a stepping stone in this journey.
I guess you could say my leadership in this trip was simply a matter of survival, and the first chance I get, Thane will be fucking dead. His prints are all over the gun anyway, so why not? I can cop a self defense plea, saying everything was done to keep him from helping me whistle from the back of my head.
But still, I felt bad about Bulldog. His business was close enough to honest. He never stole the cars, he simply covered up the crimes of others. He made a point never to steal, but he would help anyone, no questions asked, for a price. I found it sad that this time, the price was his life.
I left Thane outside when I talked to Bulldog, and explained my situation, and some of my plans. Bulldog understood, to some extent, but showed obvious discomfort to the gaping mouth of a magnum. We lacked funding to strip this Spyder, and Thane knew I was a bit more level-headed than himself. I wound up "negotiating" with Bulldog.
After the deed was done, I had to find a way to pacify Thane some more, since he still believed he was in control. The only way to do that was to discharge the weapon.
When all was said and done, Bulldog was left lying in a pool of blood, smoke emanating from the piece in my hands.
All I can say is thank you, Bulldog. Thank you for everything, and I hope someday I can make it up to you.
