A man will let you down, he will betray
Your love and will forget the words he said,
The promises, his eyes will turn away
And to another's arms another's bed
He'll turn, forsaking marriage vows and wife;
When comforts of a charmed and blessed life
Are cast away for vanity and pride
A need for justice will not be denied,
The heart will not go down without a fight
The fires of love and vengeance will collide
And both will burn a red and angry light.
I once had such a man: to my dismay
His lover left a token in our bed,
Discovered in his absence down the day
I fought the pain alone, hot tears were shed
From eyes belonging to a foolish wife
Until it seemed that weeping was my life,
For hours on end my heart broke as I cried
I heard it crack and something changed inside,
What once held sorrow hate had now gripped tight
And would not loose its grip, a trusted guide
To show me how to make of wrong a right.
He returned to a house in disarray
And a wife enraged, this is what I said,
"You have proven false and gone astray
And are to me as you will be soon, dead.
I am myself again, no more your wife,"
With steady hands I slowly thrust the knife
Into his chest and watched the skin divide
In two as blood ran down my wrists, so wide
The wounds I made, so deep the long blade's bite
That with his spine the metal did collide,
I could not stop my laughter, nor delight.
My face was fully covered by the spray,
My hands and arms thick coated with blood shed,
And as my vision cleared, the world went gray
The blood was on my hands but was not red.
With passing years I have made a new life
And though I know I'll make a loving wife,
A perfect, blushing beauty of a bride
Despite my efforts and how hard I've tried
I know I won't forget that fateful night;
I sit and wait, soon one will sit beside
And offer a drink, a casual invite.

+4 for the poetry.
KindaNews (Sphagnum?), go fuck yourself. You are apparently too stupid to
appreciate the creative talent required for poetry.

I read the first little bit, then remember what APW stood for, so I scrolled down to have a look at the picture before continuing. There I was, thinking you were an ass for seeing anguish in that painting. The end reaffirmed my faith in you.
Creative and clever, as usual.
Fuck Orgasmatron.

Is your poem related to a standing interpretation of the painting, or is it all yours?
---
Psh. Who has time for researching interpretations of artwork these days?
I just wondered what she was thinking about sitting all there by her lonesome.
Then I figured out why.

No kidding. I'm not using any semblance of a 'chant royal' ever again.
Limiting, says I.
Here's something by Leech that you'd enjoy, as it has a hint of lingerie: http://www.artnet.com/artwork_images_220_124806_Raymond-Leech.jpg
