The guard looked Jones in the eye. "Any last words?"
Jones met his stare; it was a cold one, but full of thought. The guard's eyes showed some manner of sympathy, but Jones could tell he was trying very hard to hide it. Jones knew why. He knew that if the guard as much as sniffled, he himself would be shot that instant. Jones tried to make it as easy as possible for him; he didn't want to see his brother die. He hadn't done anything but obey orders. Jones, on the other hand, had defied all orders, and now he sits in a rather comfortable recliner, hooked up to an IV with an intriguing green liquid.
At that moment, thousands of thoughts rushed through his head. He wanted to scream them all, yell out, "I did it to save your life! I knew what would happen but I did it anyway, because you're my little brother and I love you!" He knew, though, that if anyone found out they were brothers he would be disgraced and thrown out of the army. The government was very strict about allowing only one male from each family to join the military. Jones was surprised they could keep it a secret as long as they did, but a part of Jones thought somebody had found out. And that somebody had set it up this way, to have one brother kill another. None of this mattered anymore. Jones was done with his service.
Jones closed his eyes. "No," he muttered.
The guard turned and walked to the door. He put his hand on the shoulder of the accompanying guard.
"Inject the poison."

I'm not sure they actually say "Inject the poison" during a lethal injection but whatever.
