Johnny Thunder drove at the speed limit, wary of being pulled over. He had broken parole by crossing a state line, if only by a few miles, to recover his car.
The '67 Shelby Mustang was trying to escape from it's reigns, in no small part due to the modifications that had been made, but he held back, mindful of the consequences.
The bumpers had been empty of the hard earned money that he had served eight years for and he intended to recoup as much as possible, even if he had to violate his parole again.
He reached into the soft pack of Camels on the passenger seat and pulled out the last crumpled remnant of the smokes, while maintaining a steady fifty-five. Lighting it with a scuffed and scratched Zippo, he knew that it would be his last until he had paid back the bitch for taking what was rightly his, whatever her reasons.
He was about to cross another line, maybe more than one, which, if he was caught, would result in him spending another four years, at the least, at the government's disposal.

The Gas Station was the only one in town. The jockey knew everyone in town and was happy to point him in the direction of her place. The nicotine re-established, he followed the detailed directions given to him in the gas station.
He pulled up outside a typical brownstone, with a screech of tires.
Strolling up to the door, cigarette lodged firmly in his mouth, he rattled out a tattoo on the front door.
The kid who answered couldn't have been more than six or seven.
"Is Judy here?", he asked, calmly, not wanting to upset a girl that young.
"MOM", she cried in response.
