The alarm goes off, I hit it to make it stop. I don't use the snooze because I know the garbage trucks will keep me awake.
There are still a few seconds of sleepy, stretchy bliss, the sun streaming through the curtains, warming the blankets. The cool pillow case under my face, it's white threads clear to my slitted, sleep swollen eyes, anything further away would be blurry.
I was dreaming. Vampires and 1950's greasers were having a turf war.
I open my eyes and see the time blaring it's red numbers at me. 8am, ok.
I roll over to hug you and kiss you awake.
But it's not you.
And I remember who I am.
All the bliss disolves into reality and dirty walls.
Sit up, shake my head, light a cigarette and open a beer.
I miss you so much, baby.
