Five hundred words following this sentence. At least, that's what my Microsoft Word told me.
Fucking Terrorists:
Some will say the Terrorists and Islamic extremists are the worst thing in this world. There are things worse. There are many things that will bring us down quicker and more efficiently than some people who hate us. Other countries will hate us forever. The French for one.
There is a man named Fred Phelps who started a church back in the fifties. He calls himself a Baptist, though the Baptist denies any affiliation with him. The members of his church protest and picket the funerals of fallen Soldiers.
I am a veteran of Afghanistan and have had my share of close calls. I have many friends who have served and continue to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of these men is my cousin Brian Ensor, an Infantryman in the Kansas National Guard. Every day I think about the only reason I ever was excited to go to Kansas City was to hang out with him. I worry about him everyday. I know we should never have favorites in the family, but he and his brother and sister are my favorite family members. There was never a time I didn't have fun with them. Brian, Jay and Katherine.
If Brian falls in Iraq, I will wear my Military uniform to his funeral and tears will fall down my face as I salute this fallen hero. I will remember the good times we had underage drinking and trying to get into trouble. I will think fondly of him every day until the day I myself die, and I will console his sibling and parents.
And I will break the knees of anyone who tries to tell me he died because God hates fags and He is punishing us. Literally, I will shatter their knees for them. In front of the cameras, and I will do the time for hurting these people with so many witnesses. There is no doubt in my mind about this. I love Brian. He is the only person in this world who totally understands what it is to be in the family and close to my age.
When Brian joined the Army, I was so proud of him because of the things he went through before joining. Things that don't need to be discussed here. And when he told me he was going Infantry, I was jealous because he was obviously tougher and more dedicated than myself. But nevertheless, he is my hero, and it makes me proud to be in the same Army as him. I will never let him be disrespected like that.
So if you ever see these people, regardless of your stance towards the war, do me a favor. Break some knees. Sure you might get arrested, but you'll probably get on CNN, and you get the respect of all of the military because you too are sacrificing for something greater than yourself.
God Speed you Fallen Soldiers. May the Pearly Gates be forever open to you and your comrades.

i know who youre talking about. i saw phelps' daughter on the news talking about how her and her "congregation" go around to soldiers funerals and cheer and tell the family members that theyre son is in hell because he is fighting for gays and i was fucking furious when i saw that. they dont seem to realize that the only reason they even have the right to vomit shit like that up are because of the people whos deaths they rejoice in.
i dont agree with the war but that not the fault of the boys who are fighting it.
you can take my word that if i catch wind of them showin up around my parts ill do more than break their knees. though i dont see them comming to massachusetts any time soon.

Illinois recently passed a law to address this issue with Phelps church.
Not sure they should have, though I detest what those people do.
