Nathan stepped from the bus and took a few steps towards the bench in front of him. A glance up at the street sign informed him of his location: the corner of Peach Avenue and Cedar street, in the town of St. Eubrie.
With him Nathan had 2 suitcases, a beige one with two thick, leather straps holding everything in and a smaller, blue one with little wheels on it. Everything he owned was in these two bags and this quaint, eccentric little town would be where he'd try to start over.
The bus sped away and Nathan checked his watch. 2:35 PM. Better find some food and a place to stay. He'd start looking for work in the morning.
He reached in his pocket and pulled out what was left from the $100 bill he was given upon his release. $76 and change. He put the money back and took in his first full breath of St. Eubrie air. It was nice. Everything here seemed nice.
"Well, here goes." he said to himself.
Heading south on Peach Avenue, Nathan began to walk. He was relieved to be on his own again but fearful of what others might think of his story. That is, if he chose to share it with them. A few yards down and just to the right stood a very pretty little girl holding a sign advertising her lemonade stand.
As if by instinct, Nathan slipped a finger under the plastic bracelet on his right wrist and pulled sharply upwards. After some stretching it popped off; Nathan took one final look at his last physical reminder of where he had been for the past 8 years.

He threw the plastic strip into a passing trash receptacle and shifted his attention to the little girl just ahead of him.
Nathan was going to enjoy living in St. Eubrie.
