Mom says there's a scary person outside. She says I shouldn't talk to him, because he's a bad, bad man. That he does mean, nasty things.
But I don't think she knows what she's talking about, that's just Repairman Gus outside. And Repairman Gus is always nice to me, always asking how I'm doing in school and telling me how big I'm getting.
I like Repairman Gus.
He lives over on five-two-seven Peach Avenue, the old house with the red shutters. I know cause I see him sometimes when I ride by on my bike on the way to Ricky Stewart's house. He always stops what he's doing, whether he's in the yard or washing dishes in the kitchen or washing his car or any of that other stuff Mom usually pays me a dollar to do.
Sometimes when his garage door is open, I see this big thing hiding in the corner, with a dusty sheet all covered over it. It's really really big, bigger than a fridge or even a car. One time when I was riding by I asked him what it was, and he just laughed and said I was too young to even begin to understand.
That was the only time he wasn't ever nice to me.
Oh! But Repairman Gus has a dog. His name is Toby, and boy, is he fun to play with. Gus taught him all sorts of tricks, like fetch and roll over and play dead and heel and all sorts of other stuff. Gus says he's a mutt, which means he's a lot of different kinds of dogs. Kinda like how people can be English and French and stuff, thanks to their antes...anetes...ancest...grandparents.
I'm a mutt too.
Repairman Gus is really nice to me. One day, he even let me take Toby home with me, and I snuck him into my room when Mom wasn't looking, and I told him to be quiet and he did, and he only peed on the carpet one time! It felt really good, cause Mom never let me have a dog, and I always wanted a dog, cause dogs are cool like that. I told her I'd walk it and take it to the vet when it got sick, and feed it and wash it, and treat it just like my Mom treats me: extra special.
But Mom still said no.
So whenever I can't get Ricky to come out and play, I like to go over to Repairman Gus' house and see if he'll let me play with Toby. And he always says yes, even if it's really early in the morning, or if he has to go out and fix something for someone and won't be there to watch me.
Yesterday Repairman Gus actually came to my house. I let him in. He said he had to fix something, but I don't know what it was. Everything was working, cept my Mom's hair thingie, but I don't think even Repairman Gus could fix that.
He told me I should go over and play with Toby, cause he was gonna be working here for a while, and his tools would be pretty loud. He even said I could go in his house and watch TV if I wanted, since I wouldn't be able to at my house. I just wasn't supposed to go in the garage.
So I didn't. I went over and I played with Toby, and watched "World's Wildest Police Chases," which Mom doesn't want me to watch cause it's too violent and stuff. But I could at Repairman Gus' house cause she wasn't there to stop me. It was cool.
But when I went back home, Repairman Gus wasn't there anymore, and Mommy was crying. I asked what had made her sad, and she said it was nothing, nothing I had to worry about.
I thought maybe she was starting to see that Repairman Gus was nice, too, and she was sad that he had to leave. I know sometimes I'm sad when he has to leave too, but I don't cry, cause boys aren't supposed to do that.
Gus is at the door now. Maybe if I let him in, he'll let me go to his place and watch TV again.
I sure hope Mom will be glad to see him.

The end kind of bothered me. It's like you left everything for the next story, but didn't give anything to this one. Not that I'm an expert or anything, that's just how I saw it.

not that I would know, I don't have time to read this story. Actually I'm gonna try to refrain from this whole series.

It used to be the far majority of posts that I read did have them though. I'm turned off to series though because they rarely reach a conclusion here. That and there were far too many stories to try to keep up with in After The Pandemic.

Sorry Darko, you're just not nice enough.
Dicks like PFF always go for the truly undeserving, because they think they'll have the easiest job of making their life as miserable as their own.
Unfortunately for PFF, he's a faceless Aussie with a computer, using empty and meaningless words. He truly has no power whatsoever. And every time he insults me or anyone else, he shows off how big a dick he truly is. Which makes him more miserable, he keeps up with the insults, yadda yadda yadda.
Point is, I'd rather have a buddy like Steve than a pathetic douche like PFF around. Consider yourself lucky.
