Jacob was more than a little pissed as he crossed the Weiss' lawn. He had needed the money from doing chores for Adeline for a PSP. He had been saving up since Christmas when his parents had refused to give him one. It was the only thing he had asked for and he got socks and jeans instead. He had sulked around the house for weeks afterwards, but his parents were "teaching him a life lesson" and insisted that he buy one himself. He figured they'd cave by his birthday that February, but Mom had put her foot down after his report card came in and he was gifted a tutor for the following semester. What a rip off. Everyone else had a PSP. He couldn't even get a part time job because he needed parental consent and he wasn't going to get that until he brought his grades up and kept them up.
He and his mom had been fighting about it in the church parking lot when Adeline overheard and offered him the job. It was easy money too, but that bitch old lady had screwed him. He was late and it was totally not his fault. He had lost track of time watching Lindsey Hudson masturbate with what looked like a vintage Storm Trooper action figure with its arms up, and while it was shame that such a thing of beauty wasn't being kept MIP, he could think of no more glorious use for the collectable. She had taken a bit longer than usual to climax and part of him wondered if her aide would be redeployed into her adolescent valley or given a dishonorable discharge. The rest of him just wanted the chance to sniff the Trooper.
So he had been late. So what. Adeline didn't have to be so nasty about it. He was giving up his Saturday to haul her dusty, shitty, old rugs into the back yard. The least she could have done was wait for him to get there. He wasn't that late and they still needed to be taken back in. He decided he'd try to remember to drop back in later to see if she needed any help. Maybe by then she wouldn't have the energy for the return trip. She was old. How much lifting and hauling could she be good for anyway ?
Jacob headed back into his houseand upstairs to smoke a joint and rub one out in honor of Lindsey Hudson. He remembered the first time he caught a glimpse of her. He and a few of the guys had been harassing trailer trash Vicky when one of them tossed her book up onto some jag off's roof. Jacob actually felt badly about it and he had gone out later that night to get the book back. It was a library book and he planned to stick it in the night return slot figuring Vicky's family would have a hard time coming up with the money to replace the book. He couldn't give a shit about Vicky, but her mom was nice.
It had started as simply as that. He had climbed up onto the fence where he could reach the corner of the roof when something made him turn around. There she was. He had ducked down quick not fully aware of what he was watching. Well part of him was and it was struggling against the zipper in his jeans. He climbed onto the roof and lay as flat as he dared and just watched.
He decided to leave the book on the roof as an alibi should he ever get caught taking in a show.
He must have dosed off after his tribute to Lindsey. It was getting dark. He doubted that Adeline still needed his help but it was worth checking out. He needed that PSP.
Jacob let himself into the yard as he had done earlier. The rugs were still up on the line. Score !
He hadn't bothered to silence the gate bells as he came in so he figured Adeline would pop out soon enough to see who was trespassing. He meandered a bit further into the yard so she would have a clear view of him from the porch door and whistled to himself.
When she didn't show he decided he would try knocking on the back door. She couldn't possible be so old and slow that she wouldn't have made it from one end of the house to the other by now. Perhaps she hadn't heard him after all. Old people get hard of hearing, right ?
As he stepped off the side path onto the patio he noticed a pile of clothes next to the picnic bench. Nearing, he became aware of what he was actually seeing and froze. Adeline Weiss wasn't moving.
"Mrs. Weiss ?"
He approached cautiously and kneeled down to see if she was still breathing. She wasn't. He gave her a good shake to make sure. Still nothing. He decided to go inside and call 911, but not before giving her one more solid poking with his foot.
Crossing the kitchen he noticed Adeline's pocketbook laying on the kitchen table. Well she certainly wasn't going to be needing it any further and he had come back to help her finish dragging the rugs back in, so it was only right he be paid. He took $80, leaving behind a few singles and the change in case anyone got suspicious. $80. Alongside the money his grandma sent him for his birthday it was almost enough for his PSP. Almost. He decided to go exploring a bit. It wasn't like Mrs. Weiss was in a rush to go to the hospital.
Thoughts of Metal Gear Acid in his head, he headed into the basement, on the lookout for the legendary toy cache and Tiffany Hutchense. If the rumors were true, he would be a hero and the reward would be enough for 100 PSP's. Maybe more.

I'm very sad that I didn't get a single comment on how I used her. Here I was thinking "sniff the Trooper" was the funniest thing I'd written in ages. I guess you need to up the perv bar to get a reaction here at Uber :)
Thanks for the Lindsey loan. I am loving how the characters lives are slowly entertwining here in St. Eubrie.
