Wow... long time since I have been on here... but I have this burning desire to bitch for a bit and where better to go?
So, yesterday we had this major terror alert and basically total news coverage of reporters at airports all over the UK. Then we get a list of young asian names that are currently having every single asset they are even related to frozen. Great! Points for us, we stopped a real nasty plot to kill loads of innocent people (anyone out there that wants to dispute the 'innocent' comment, go swivel on a stick... just think how many kids would have been on those flights, all excited about their wonderful summer holidays to disney land and so on).
I have to admit I was pretty wound up at the scale of this and pretty mad at what was planned... BUT what has really got steam coming outta my ears is the attitude of so many people after things like this. Before I go any further let me tell you that I live in Bradford, UK and in an area of the city that has a high percentage of asians living here. I am not a member a single minority and always tick the 'White/British' box.
The main comments I always hear after things like this are 'stuff them all, we should just kill all muslims/blacks/asians/pakis'. It really winds me up, I have very intelligent friends saying the dumbest shit like this. Why the hell do they say it??
Would they feel better if this actually happened? Kill 'em all and then they'd feel safer? Well, damn! What about the Irish, they have the IRA so we kill all of them too. Then the Spanish, they have ETA. Where does it end?
The old Asian guy from next door came to our house a day or so after 9/11 to basically apologise for the terrorists. He was scared stiff we would hate him because of some fundementalists (how the hell do you spell this?!?). He is about 80 years old, has a lovely family that are about as western as me without the booze!
I cannot think of the last time I labelled an entire people just because of one idiots actions. Am I a minority in this?! Have I finally found myself another box to tick???
Anyway, feeling better now. Add your -2's below and ensure my eligibilty to my new minority or scare me senseless and add some comments that actually make sense!

There will always be terrorism though I find it hard to see why people don't just get along, and ignore what race someone is, it's gone on for so long now that people really should fucking learn

Tell me if you have ever seen a peace protest in the middle east?
Have you ever seen muslims protesting against Hezebullah firing rockets at civilians, against them using civilians as shields?
In Israel you see peace protests against the actions the IDF is taking, where is the flip side of this? Where is the voice of the "moderate muslim", where is the voice of the muslim that wants peace?
I lived in Indonesia (largest muslim country in the world) right after 9/11, I T-shirts of the WTC towers in flames and Osama's face as if her were a hero. I saw protests at the trial of one of the guys involved at the bali bombing, and they were protests in support of him. There were near riots when they went after the cleric who masterminded it.
I am not saying all muslims are bad, but you can't accept a culture that celebrates the death of civilians, nowhere outside of the muslim world do you see that. Tell me one non-muslim group that would celebrate someone who blew up a cafe full of civilians?
Actually I guess you could bring up abortion clinic bombers, there are some small extremists sects who probably approve of shit like that, but they are never popular enough for memorials or t-shirts celebrating their actions.

well the uk was pretty horrible to the irish. if the irish and scottish and say indians and aboriginal people in australia and all the people that were generally squished by the english decided to bomb the shit out of you it's kind of like turn about is fair play. you started it and continued it for centuries in many many countries that were not yours. part of ireland is just still under british invasion so there will be fighting as long as that goes on. and when that's over there'll be fighting as long as catholics and protestants are there.
and as someone else said, not all muslims are terrorists but all terrorists seem to be muslims.

You know what's amazing? That the overwhelming majority of people who claim righteous outrage against Israel or China or anyone else who's (understandably) pissed at the Muslim extremists, are almost always the people who never deal with Muslims anyways. Call it ETS syndrome; it's easy to be saintly and righteous when you live in your basement and never deal with the outside world. When you start dealing with people, it gets harder to distinguish between right and wrong.
Used to go to school with a bunch of Paleistinians. One of them, Alim, was a great guy, about 19 at the time. Went out for breakfast with him every day. But all the fucker would talk about was how he wanted to kill anyone who disagreed with his god; how he'd put a bullet into the skull of any Jew he saw. Now as nice as Alim was, I could see how he might make me a wee bit, oh I dunno, uncomfortable if my existence happened to upset his moral scales, which, in a post 9/11 world, it probably now does.
We're not talking about minority and majority here. We're not talking about an overwhelming majority of moderate, easy-going muslims punctuated by a few nutty loners. We're talking about a world view and a sense of identity. Should we kill Muslims? Will killing Muslims change anything? Probably not. But we also shouldn't pass off the driving desire to 'convert by the sword', or kill over a fucking comic strip as an ethnic difference. Maybe if we actually held their people to an average standard and treated them like any OTHER group without fear of being labeled 'un-PC', the crazies would learn to sit down and shut the fuck up.

The Majority should be blamed! These extremists are still Muslims, if the rest of the Muslim population is too scared, stupid, loyal to the almighty suicide bomber in the sky (Allah), to stamp out these people in THEIR community they should too be punished. I'm not saying they should all be killed or anything. But deport them. Take the names of everyone involved in any terrorist activity and eject every single Muslim with any connection to them from our country. Their entire family and all of their friends. Take every penny they have and give it to the emergency services and other organizations working against terrorists and of course, the families that they've destroyed with their attacks. Send them all packing, back to Muslim countries. I don't care if your a British born Muslim, we gave your ancestors a home and now you think you can kill us because you don't agree with our beliefs / way of life! FUCK OFF! In case you didn't notice, we don't agree with yours!
The yanks don't help, if Bush could keep his dirty little fingers out of the Middle Eastern Oil Pies a lot of this could have been avoided a long long time ago.
