I woke up with a start
Piecing together subtle half conscious clues and mentally pinpointing my location. Something had woken me, raised voices in the corridor outside the suite by the door. I managed to separate Carols voice and it dawned on me that some if not all of the family had returned from the club and the hotel was about to become the location of an after party.
Sam had located a dealer within hours of us reaching London and by the time everyone had headed to the party their pockets had been bulging with a chemical artillery.
I pulled my jacket away from my face and swung my legs from under the covers to the floor, From here on sleep was unlikely at best.
The two new girls, Kate and Dibbs had arrived at the dealers house a few minuets after us. Introductions had been made and when they found out where we were headed they had asked to join us, at least as far as Birmingham. Sam wasnt sure but they offered us a place to stay the night and sealed the deal when they invited us to a party in the old HMV building on Oxford street.
They had said their hotel was near the party but even I was impressed when we pulled up outside the Dorchester, after everything we had been through in the last six months it was like a surreal luxurious dream. The prospect of a shower and a real bed outweighed the comfort of a squat party with ten million refugees, feigning a headache I had resolved to have an early night.
I sat in the dark and pulled on my jeans as Sam stumbled through the bedroom door and stood sweating and grinning while his jaw made a spirited attempt to circumnavigate his face. I shuddered internally as I anticipated his comedown and followed him back into the living area where I flopped onto a cushion.
I reached into my pocket for my tobacco and realised that I had left it on the table when I had gone to bed, I may as well have thrown it out of the window for all the fucking good it would do me now.
The tweaked harpies that passed as my friends and family had fallen on the pouch as they came through the door someone was going to have to go out for cigarettes, cigarettes and beer.
Dilated pupils and simple smiles turned towards me, with straightness comes great responsibility. I tucked a pistol into the back of my jeans pulled on my jacket and sloped out towards the street.
The hotel's lifts were still functioning, some sort of generator had been set up and the lobby was bathed in a warm golden glow that sugested more demand than power.
The lobby and steps leading to the street were populated by the bodyguards, chauffeur's and general hangers on of the affulent and armed who were holed up inside the building.
I navigated between the whores and horrors and sloped with rising dread towards the carnival that now passed for Oxford street in search of beer and fags.

Hmm.
First sentence is unpunctuated and the following one is a fragment.
And finally, a search for booze and gay sex? Not today.
