Well, apparently, W.Q.P. got himself married, so as soon as he gets back, he needs to start working on this.
I know Razor moved to North Carolina, or was supposed to - perhaps is he not there yet?
There was talk back in April about UMIV, and then it just faded away - does no one really care anymore? Who's on the committee?
Is anybody seriously interested anymore? I'd like to see some entertaining writing done, and UM is the best way to do this.
Heck, I'd even like to see AlterMadness - go the whole other direction with the competition thing.
So, what do you guys think?

I could be willing to assist in a limited capacity. part of the reason I've done some of the smaller comps is because UM wasn't around to provide me with reading material. The mini comps do have problems since there is no way to post annon but they still shake out pretty well and provide some good stuff. If I ever get to come back full time again i have an idea for a minicomp that could eliminate the problems or even better would be the ability to put up a contest through the site.

The plan was for me to write some code for Ubersite that would have allowed UberMadness-like competitions to become a general part of the Ubersite software, but to have UberMadness still be its own specially supported contest.
However, a bunch of crap came up in my life sort of simultaneously that has prevented me from being on Ubersite much at all, let alone having the time to run UberMadness.
So, I made an offer to snark which apparently based on the comment he made below he never received, which was for him and maybe a couple other people to run UM IV without me. I never got a response, so I thought it was a dead issue... but the offer still stands.
Once the issues in my life are resolved (one of which yes is a move to NC in a few months, mostly so it's not too much of a drive to beat shlongy at golf) I will be more active on Ubersite again (I'm sure you're all so excited), but I'd guess that it won't be until next calendar year before I can be seriously involved.
If a group of people want to run UM IV, please contact me - Jeremy_21117.at.hotmail.com - and I will see about getting you guys together, getting bart's approval, and offering what part-time assistance I can... but I need to stress again I don't have the time in my life right now to be involved, and I will not be "interfering" or whatever it was last time.

I agree with what Filthy said below and really I shouldn't care as I wasn't gonna enter this time anyway.
But if it isn't gonna happen, maybe our venerable leader (El Barto), could provide a link for a "Competition Entry" category, which would leave it annonymous. I don't know how much work this would entail, but it would make the little contests that are run, a little more fun.
I would still like to see UM resurrected, but I have been pretty much scared to ask the way things have been going around here.
Anyway, you all know it is gonna end with post 100K.

You're right, wardy. The whole anonymous voting deal is the saving grace of UM. Getting people to the point where they can actually vote and there is something for them to vote on, however, is a real bitch. If you open up the contest to everyone, there's a shitload of forfeits and it drags on so long that 90% of people lose interest. If you limit the field, accusations of favouritism run rampant and you have to make a concerted effort to eliminate all the alters. It'll happen eventually, I'm just not sure anyone can really be bothered with the hassle right now.
Ask razor - he's probably cooking something up in secret.

There was some heated debate over the number of entrants and whether there should be a cash prize or not. It got mired in the usual logistical nightmare and people started losing enthusiasm for it.
With the relatively new trend of informal contests springing up all over the site, UM would have had to pull something spectacular out of the bag to make all the bickering worth it.

I've been wondering the same thing myself. AlterMadness would be a great addition, really.
If there's no UMIV I'll be disappointed because I didn't get to participate last year, having joined too late. In about a month and a half Gruberfest II should be starting up, though, and I'm all about getting in on that.
