Just a quick update on the project to let those of you participating know that I haven't forgotten about it...
First things first...I received a most excellent audition from BranDo last Friday and didn't get a chance to upload it until today. Go check it out...it's pretty amazing. The URL is at the bottom of this post.
Okay, so here we go with the other updates...
Song:
I think we've narrowed it down sufficiently to either "Good Vibrations" by the Beach Boys or one of several Pink Floyd songs...the Floyd recommendations were Young Lust, Brick in the Wall, Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, and Money. I'll admit that I'm not familiar with "Young Lust", but will track down a copy of the song and give it a listen.
Anyways, we need to decide what to do for sure now from this list, so cast your votes below.
Performers:
Auditions were submitted by BranDo, ETS, LittleDan, Kaos-King, Moneyshotforyou, Skrapmetal, and UnderOathMeal (as well as myself). Purpose of this exercise was to see who was serious about participating. That being said - since I'm still inundated at the new job save for the brief 15 minutes this took me, I'll grant an extension to this Friday for anyone else that wants to participate but hasn't submitted material.
Here's my vision of the current lineup based on submissions and interests:
BranDo - Acoustic guitar 1, backing vocals
CaptainThorns - Bass guitar, backing vocals
ETS - Drums, backing vocals, mixing/mastering
Falconer - Acoustic guitar 2
Kaos-King - Samples, mixing/mastering
LittleDan - Electric guitar 1
Moneyshotforyou - Lead vocals
Skrapmetal - Theramin, keys
UnderOathMeal - Electric guitar 2
I'd like to get this nailed down more concretely by next Friday (September 1st) so we can move forward. Please give your feedback, ideas, etc. on whether this is okay or needs revisions.
As always, the project web site is available at: http://www.ubersitemusic.info/
Catch y'all later...

Just a quick note for the five people that will bother to read this...the project is coming to a head (huh-huh, I said "come" and "head"), and we should be wrapped up within a few weeks. It's been a blast and well worth the time we've taken with it over the past seven and a half months.

Yeah, Rad, the holidays and illness with some project members have slowed down progress a bit, but we're chugging along as well as can be.
Hopefully, we'll wrap this up by the end of January.

The website is up and running, now with frames for a cleaner look and feel, plus it helps keep things better organized. You're all quite welcome.

The website's back up now, for the time being. There is a rudimentary forum now available for use. If I have time I'll create a better version ala Uber's or something similar.

FYI - the web site is temporarily down for maintenance...I'm working on adding a forum section, and file upload utilities, plus adding CSS/frames for a better look and feel. I will let you all know once it is back up again.

By popular vote then, "Comfortably Number" it shall be. Money has suggested leading in with "Is There Anybody Out There." Web site has been updated to include tracks of both songs for practice purposes. I'll get a click track done and uploaded sometime this weekend.

I thought you retired last week?

I love you too, Herbert J.!
But learn to read...I *said* I was gonna finish this project as promised, plus the one I'm doing for Davros. If you've paid any attention you'll notice I haven't reviewed any posts to speak of since last Friday.
As for the rest of you..."Comfortably Numb" works for me too. Sounds like we've got a consensus. Axolotl - flute's fine...I assume you have a means of recording it? You never sent a demo...if you like, feel free to e-mail one to me at captainthorns.at.gmail.com (you too, BoshDude)...

I believe PF is best of those two. Title..? Long long time ago I did Another Brick with my band but I've never been really into covering so I'll stick with the majority too.
My prop: Comfortably Numb

As the theramin guy, I'm voting for Pink Floyd. Good Vibrations is cool for the theramin part and the vocal harmony, but it's pretty thin on the other talent. We have lots of guitar players and Pink Floyd offers the opportunity for as many guitar/bass/other weird instrument parts as you might want to have. Just my thoughts.
As to which PF track, I'll go with majority opinion. Just let me know which one so I can get the music and practice. This is going to be fun.

How exactly will this be done, will someone just set a backing track and we go at it on a computer recorder?

I'm personally vying for Pink Floyd. Comfortably Numb I think would allow us the most room to experiment and collaborate.
And does anyone have an aversion to my using a talk box?
=============================================================================================
I wholeheartedly agree with both statements.

I am with this guy.
The talk box would be cool as long as you are good at it. I have heard some shitty talk box work over the years.
