First, some of the people here have had trouble understanding a few things that any six-year-old should know. The brainwashing of our culture is so effective on the weak-minded that the notions I'm referring to are extremely prevalent now, and I would like to debunk them now:
1. Some people on this wonderful site need to learn that, believe it or not, it is possible to hate Bush and still not be a liberal. I know that idea makes your micron-sized Neanderthal brains hurt, but it is true.
2. Even more incredible: there are other viewpoints in the world besides liberalism and conservatism anyway! What a shock! Not everybody allows themselves to get their ideas spoonfed to them by a party line like you do.
3. Okay, brace yourself for the most mind-boggling of all these facts: it is—wonder of wonders!—possible to hate Bush without hating America too! I myself don't feel any particular way about my country, or any other country, since I understand that countries are arbitrary abstract constructs drawn with totally imaginary lines (or maybe they're painted sometimes, OOH!) and have no basis in any kind of objective fact.
Back when the Kosovo-bombing, secretly pro-censorship, asking-what-"is"-means Bill Clinton was president I was convinced that I would never see an American president who exemplified better everything that's sleazy about politicians. I was wrong. I've seen more intelligent creatures than Bush lying on their backs at the bottoms of ponds. I've seen better organized creatures than Bush running around farmyards with their heads cut off. I've seen more sophisticated creatures throwing their own feces around zoo cages. I've seen creatures with less blatant mindless animalistic territorialism pissing on fire hydrants. I've seen more natural born leaders devouring their own young after hatching them. I've seen less disgusting and pitiable creatures eating their own shit as they oink. I can name serial killers with more decency. Your average parrot is better at public speaking, and considerably less repetitive.
You might say I'm not being fair, that he doesn't deserve all these insults. You're right: no insults exist that are devastating enough to be fair. All we can do here with the poverty of language is understate. Detestable, execrable, sub-moronic, meretricious, freedom-loathing, blundering, senseless, tyrannical, bullheaded, bullshitting: to call Bush any of these things is like calling outer space a wee bit roomy. The only of the forty-two previous presidents I can think of who was arguably worse than Bush was Harry Truman. At least Bush hasn't laid waste to multiple sprawling metropolises, although I suppose it's only a matter of time.
It would be bad enough that Bushwhacker—sorry, Bushwanker—sorry, Bush—gave the country extensive tax cuts while a simultaneous war effort cost the government a billion dollars a week, which would itself be bad enough had the country not already been in trillions of dollars of debt (which it will never repay, since the American government is one of the biggest bullies on the playground and therefore won't fork over anything, why don't you try and make it?). No, Bush has to go top himself in the outrageous department by having his administration administer and maintain the worst insult to the Constitution and to basic human rights in the history of this particular space between imaginary, human-made boundaries: the Patriot Act. Thanks to Bush, we Americans are now several steps closer to being as oppressed as the people of the "countries" the American government picks on. Apparently they thought we needed a little more sympathy. It is a testament to human foolishness that people kept on trusting and trusting and trusting Bush's nonsense about yellow and even red terrorist threat levels even while time and again no major terrorist acts were being committed here at the time. People will believe anything.
