Seeing Kaos King's post about that dream pulled something to the front of my mind. Something I don't like to remember.
My dreams.
I don't remember good dreams. Only the bad ones. Mostly the really bad ones.
Sometimes I think I'm insane.
They span all sorts of seemingly innocent things, until they turn sour.
Anybody seen "Jacob's Ladder" ? Yeah. That movie scares the fuck out of me. My dreams are full of people and animals with no eyes. No eyes, or eyes that are pools of black so deep you are paralyzed by simply looking into them.
Fear catches you like a deer in the headlights of an oncoming semi. Once they've revealed themselves, there is no escape. What they want to do to you is going to happen. If you can't wake up, you better be ready to scream, because it's going to get bad.
I dreamt I was walking along a road in my hometown. It was a nice spring day, and just down the way was the elementary school I grew up attending. Funny how in your dreams, a place is as you remember it most, rather than the fact that your eyes see when you go by it one day. The wind was light and cool and I felt very much at peace, the kind of contentment you get when you are tasting good memories.
I walked along the side of the road, down towards the old Highway Patrol office. A big, shaggy Golden Retriver trotted up the side of the road towards me, wagging it's tail. It came up to me, as I passed the bare cinderblock structure of the Highway Patrol office. I stopped. The dog stopped. I reached my hand out slightly, to let it smell me, to gauge it's intentions. It sniffed my hand, licked it. Wagged it's tail in happiness. The dog was alright. I made a cautious pat on the head, scratched behind it's ears. Stood up straight. Where is the owner? This dog doesn't deserve to get run over, not out here..
Pain. Pressure.
I look down. The dog has black eyes. It's growling, and it has my nuts in it's mouth. I can feel the fangs pressing down on either side of them. When it bites down, it will take the whole thing. Sack, testicles, and all. I can't even move, I'm so fucking scared. The black of it's eyes is the black of death. Of dead things. That dark behind the milky dullness glazing the eyes of dead things but all too alive. With my nuts in it's mouth.
A shot rings out, and I feel the impact in my back. Center mass, just off to the right. The dog starts as the shot hits, and releases me.
I'm down on my knees, and the dog is wagging it's tail, growling and licking the blood off my pants as it drips from the hole in my chest. I cannot breathe right. My lungs won't work.
The officer has no eyes at all. His boots crunch on the gravel as the dog latches back onto my balls and begins to snarl and pull at them through my jeans. Oh God does it hurt! I can't scream because I have no breath. The cop is coming to blow my brains all over the asphalt and all I can think about is the way I can feel the blood vessels in my body being pulled out like strings, attached to the meat in the dog's mouth. I don't hear the shot. I feel an explosion of heat at the back of my head.
I wake up.
My nuts hurt. Like the muscles in my groin have all cramped at once. I can feel the knotted muscles in my back throb, the thumb-sized knot just below my right shoulder where I dislocated a rib pulses sickly with my heartbeat, right where the cop shot me.
I don't want to go back to sleep. They're waiting to torture me again.

I have fucked up dreams all the time too. What's worse is they rarely scare me even if it's a "bad dream" I watch the carnage with glee in the dream... Hehe. Also prone to that sleep paralysis bullshit - that's scary - knowing you're asleep but you can't move or wakeup.

Merlina and Sacrilicious be my uber-bitches: take you out sometime? QueenAshlee can hang even when i was a mega bitch to her. Jade is my homegirl and Juls rocks the hizzy.
Darko is my late-night pal, rad puts up with my ramblings, Average_Dan makes me giggle like the nerd that I am, TTOM is an even bigger nerd than me (and I think he rules), and GodChicken is the only one who's got me on surveillance (and I'm not scurred).

I always get this one dream where I am fighting with somebody really close to me. Somebody i would never think of taking a swing at. But I get into this fist fight and they do nothing. I start punching them and it does nothing to them and i feel terribly week. I always wake up from that one and start punching something to remind myself i dont suck.

Luckily I'm the opposite, I havent had a nightmare since I was 10 or 12, I only seem to recall my good dreams,

Sometimes my nightmares are so terrifying and vivid, they stay with me for days and plague my conscious thoughts. 've never understood why you can feel pain in your dreams.
I had a dream one night that my boyfriend had attacked me, pinned me on my side and proceeded to break my ribs one by one with his thumb. I felt every agonising snap and still can when I think of it. In another one he was stepping on my back while pulling my arms behind me like he wanted to break me in half lengthwise. For days after both of those dreams, I reflexively winced when he touched me.

I had a dream when I was 10 that a wolf was following me and trying to stay out of my sight. Then it came running up from behind me, I stapped aside, grabbed it by the scruff of the neck and crushed it's skull with my bare hands into a tree trunk...

I never remembered my dreams until I stopped smoking weed.

but I did cut back and only smoke it on the weekends
and oddly enough I sleep better high
so essentially what I think I'm discovering is that I should start smoking more weed again - it's medicinal

I have one reoccurring dream about being chased around some sort of castle by a large creature with white hair. The thing sneaks up on you from behind and just folds over top of you and you are gone.
I also have a reoccurring theme, fighting with bound, tied, or otherwise immovable hands.

Mr. Chicken my remedy for bad dreams is playing Disney movies before drifting off to sleep and having a snuggle buddy usually makes you feel safe. That sucks I would not want to sleep either if my dreams were this bad. ;o(
