According to paranormal researcher Robert Bigelow, having at least four of five specific characteristics he once surveyed almost six thousand people about means you've been abducted by aliens. What do you know, I was abducted by aliens and I never even knew it! I scored five out of five, so there's no doubt, right? Funny thing is, I don't recall any of these things happening for any reason except that I was on ungodly quantities of a hallucinogen I used to be addicted to called dextromethorphan hydrobromide (DXM, dex). In fact, I actually had four of those five things on the list happen to me on the very same night, after I had ingested 540 milligrams of DXM, so I must have been abducted! Strange, though--I never remembered meeting any aliens at all. I was foolish not to notice. Silly me, thinking it was just the hallucinogen.
The first of those four is "experiencing a period of time of an hour or more, in which you were apparently lost, but you could not remember why, or where you had been". This actually happens a lot when you're on DXM. I believe it's the same phenomenon the comedian Dave Attell referred to-although he was talking about the same thing happening when you're drunk-as "time warping". Usually a DXM time warp will last no more than a few minutes, but on the night in question when I was on 540 milligrams of the drug, I time warped for approximately an hour. The other three items from Bigelow's list that happened to me on this same night were:
* Waking up paralyzed with a sense of a strange person or presence or something else in the room."
* Seeing unusual lights or balls of light in a room without knowing what was causing them, or where * they came from.
* Feeling that you were actually flying through the air although you didn't know why or how.
These three actually happened at the very same time, a matter of minutes after that hour-long time warp. You see, I was lying in bed in the dark when I found myself unable to move. A cluster of multicolored dots or blobs of soft, pastel light seemed to appear on the ceiling and telepathically offer me a ride. Without waiting for an answer they took me for the ride, which seemedI know this is going to sound strange and incomprehensible, but it's hard to describe certain DXM experiencesto be countless miles long at an immeasurable speed yet somehow still just through my own room. Well, thanks to Robert Bigelow, I can put away the silly little misconception I once held that this ride was merely a hallucination brought on by the drug. Those lights in my room were aliens, and they used their super-technology to actually take me flying through the air without having to leave my room! In other words, they abducted me.
And as for the fifth and last piece of evidence from Bigelow's list: "finding puzzling scars on your body and neither you nor anyone else remembering how you received them or where you got them". When I overdosed on DXM I somehow ended up with a scar above my left eye when I fell (perhaps hitting my head on something), or after I fell (there were shards of the cup I dropped on the floor). Since I was unconscious, I'll never know exactly how it happened. Now I know: the overdosing was just a false memory implanted in my head to cover up a second abduction!

pain_it_black, I think that one of these days I'm going to make a post listing all the ways you've reacted in incoherent and/or stupid and/or paranoid ways to my posts. :D
