CT: ...and this was undergrad for me. The Abnormal Psychology professor (there's only one, which is very unusual) is a notoriously difficult professor. While I was taking the class, I was wishing the whole time that I could get out of it because I was so miserable because it was extremely demanding and rigid. But the moment I got out of the class, I realized that I was really grateful that it was so difficult. I learned so much in that class, despite the fact I got a "B." Now I shall make like Habeeb and weep. :(

We're required to completely memorize the DSM-IV-R
If you don't, and the professor points at you and says; "You there, give me 5 diagnostic criteria for Generalized Panic Disorder," you stand there and stammer.....and then die a thousands deaths in front of your classmates and future colleagues.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's what we were required to do as well. We had to memorize it cover to cover in 3 weeks and then did diagnostic impressions for the rest of the semester with only using the GAF scale (couldn't consult the DSM-IV). DSM-IV/DSM-IV-TR are the same, by the way. I believe the revisions are so slight that our professor said we could use either.
================================================
Holy Christ...you two had to MEMORIZE the frickin' thing? What sadistic grad schools did YOU go to?
Damn did I get off easy in my counselling programme. We even got to use it on our tests.

Rapid cyclers can have either of the Bipolar Disorders and the essential feature is marked by 4 different cycles (manic, hypomanic, mixed or depressed) within a 12 month period.

Shit hon, I can go through all four in a span of 12 hours.
My doctor finds the fact that I lose periphial vision during my swing episodes to be particularly fascinating.
Oh, did I mention that my manic swings tends towards sociopathic meglomania?
Yeah, I take large dosages of mulitple pills...

Forensic Psychology always seemed like an interesting field. Except I would love the human interaction part a lot more than the science part, that I know for sure.

Yes I'm still going into it.
I plan on doing 60% research/40% clinical stuff. I'm more of a researcher anyway. I'm also happier doing research than actually interacting with humans.

I actually find Bipolar I/II disorder quite interesting. That or the fact that a lot of times Bipolar disorders are diagnosed when it's really Borderline Personality Disorder.
In your example, see how you conveyed that your mood changed within moments? That's BPD, not Bipolar. This is partly why I am against psychoactive drugs. It seems to me that I wouldn't want to take drugs for something I don't have.

Habeeb, don't be a dick. I wanted to know if I could post extensive areas of quotes and a table directly from the DSM-IV without getting the picture taken off - which would have been the whole post.
