I still don't know how to get it to show up on this page instead of as a link.
All 'facts' taken right off wikipedia.

I doubt they would've planned this for decades when a revolution is brewing within Iran itself and most importantly, when the US has a little something called nuclear weapons.
+2 because this made me feel like playing Risk.

+1 for someone finally pointing out that we have been setting this up for years. And for supplying the timeline in the beginning showing how we had our nose all up in their business since WW2

And you felt it was safe to post this type of stuff on Ubersite when just last week the CIA 'chatted' with Bart about Shitfuck? You still have a very interesting post here. Let's see how valid it is...

Interesting read. Not sure that I'm buying everything you're selling.
I almost gave a +2, but you actually cited wikipedia.
Don't use wikipedia.

interesting but with a bit of poetic licence as to the realtive strength of the US/NATO bases.
-----------------------------------------
It is not so much the strength of the bases as to the fact that we own the locations and do not have to waste time and resources securing areas close to our objective where we can operate from.
People are well aware of big bases like Bagram airfield and the green zone in Iraq but there are many small ones that can facilitate special operations and smaller regular military groups. Even if they are not powerful those large bases took years to become as secure as they are. We are ahead of the game and ready to deliver a hefty asswhoopin if need be.

yeah, the military bases are nice and all, but it isn't like we couldn't blow them to pieces with our stealth bombers and cruise missiles, which could all be launched from the persian golf without these military bases.
that, and we won't go to war with iran unless the following occurs:
1) we attain support from both china and russia
2) occupation in iraq decreases
3) they attack us

If only we could use a few neutron bombs to get rid of the people and keep the buildings, we could move all the people from Louisiana over there. We could even start a shuttle carrier for the Mexicans.
Short of that we could just flatten it and take the oil. I am for either approach.

I'm glad someone other than me got a map and actually realized that if the US goes to war with Iran, we have two armies parked next door and are in an excellent strategic position to do it.
