The skyscrapers left my sight, along with my past; both were sucked down under the horizon, with a lot more than the window in-between us. The bus that pulled me away seemed exceedingly, impossibly powerful and I was wondering why. But, it was only because I was leaving so much behind; it was my will that was powerful, if I was giving it all up; weak, if I was running away.
I was leaving her and my other obsession, my work: my dual obsessions, which I had lived for since the age of 15. That was 10 years ago. It was going to be tough existing for something else. Because of regret, kind of. Because I don't remember how, mostly; I'd forgotten how to think about anything else. I had decided that I was going to find God now, or whatever represents the very real emotions of exaltation that one calls God. But maybe that was just an excuse because I didn't want to exist without purpose.
"I love only with cause," I had told her so many times. "Which is why I know that I'll always love you." Well, I'm a man of my word, and that's why I was on that bus.
A new love, a new me, at least as far as the particulars go...
I went from city to city, not looking for somewhere to belong, but for something to do. I had a lot of money at my disposal and it seemed worth it. Buffalo, Boston, New York, Washington, Raleigh, Houston, San Diego, LA, Seattle, Vancouver, Minneapolis, Detroit, and the small towns in between, all in a circle... for years... a million different cultures all on one continent... and they were all terrible. No, actually, they weren't terrible; I was. The city wasn't bad for me; I was bad for the city. The cities were great, but I was doing something wrong.
I remember what Roark had said to Wynand... or maybe it was the other way around... "I don't understand those who go looking for meaning, and search for something beyond themselves, some outside justification." Well, I had always agreed, all seven times, so... walking through Detroit at 6am, I decided to look inside, to find out what I was supposed to do about the outside... and I found it.
Looking at Windsor across the border, I realized that I had one more stop... Toronto.
Walking up the stairs of the house that I had let her keep, I realized that I was actually sprinting. She walked out of her room, startled by the man she didn't immediately recognize, who suddenly grabbed her and let her sit in his arms, who wasn't sure he had the right to kiss her even though he was certain that she wouldn't mind. Well, no true love is causeless, but some causes are stronger than others. Some causes are greater than any other, no matter what.
"Derick, why? Dear why, how are you back?"
"Thou art God."

Bubba, seeing as you're not in it and I trust you not to be biased either way, may I hire you as the official guy who decides whether or not difference-making reviews were not actual evaluations of posts, when complaints are made? I can't really do it. Or at least, will you allow me to make you the guy who does it for MY match-ups, as I'll seem biased if I do my own (I can do the others.)

See? Wiggles is obviously -2ing me out of a vendetta, and to a lesser extent, the other guy isn't actually rating my post (but it's sort of my fault; in the future I'll take care not to double-post.) When this happens in the more important rounds, and it's against me, how am I suppossed to take action against it without seeming unfair? Maybe I'll ask my opponent for permission.

If we get a lot of crap like that in the more important rounds, bullshit reviews that are obviously because of a vendetta that make a difference in the contest, I will take executive action to make those reviews irrelavent in official DPM standings. It will piss a lot of my skeptics off because it will seem unfair as it's my discretion, but I'll be completely impartial (unless there's some sort of subconscious factor or something) and objective. Screw my skeptics. It's worth keeping us safe.
