Bush Sr. was not exactly a super president. Clinton got lucky with the economy, but I think he was a good president, nonetheless. Not perfect, but good.

Yeah, Loki, I was about to say that the list of ineligible voters was compiled in Iowa, but I thought that would have been overkill for my point. Or maybe not.
But then again, anything you say to somebody who is truly convinced that Bush won the election fair and square, and that he is a self-made man, is a depressing waste of breath.

Even Collin Powell's wife got a letter stating that she was not eligible to vote. You left out the part where they got a list of names from TEXAS and then sent that letter to people with similar names. It's a sad state of things when we rattle the cages and try to convince people to go vote and then turn them away with no shot at an appeal

Well, that would have been interesting! Let's imagine that Gore had a brother who was the governor of Tennessee, and that he decided to take a personal interest in who was allowed to vote. Imagine if several tens of thousands of white, upper middle class (or richer) voters were mysteriously told on election day that they MIGHT be criminals, or that their names and birthdays were SIMILAR to those of criminals, and therefore could not vote. Oh, and if they kept bitching about it they could expect to have their asses thrown in jail.
Hmmm. I dunno. I have a hard time visualizing it.

Gore actually received a little over 540,000 more popular votes than Bush. Not that Gore would have made a much better president, though i think if that had been the case we wouldn't be attacking any country we want looking for revenge.

Dubbya did not win the election in much the same way that he did not do his own homework at Yale. I mean for real fucking YALE?!?!?! If I went to Yale I'd be PISSED.
