I dig other stuff as well. Part One can be found here... http://www.ubersite.com/m/88493

I know you still don't care, but here are some more things that I think are cool.

I once again have to reference my love for coffee and cigarettes. I'm engaged in both these vices as I type this. I'm almost out of coffee, which is a bad thing. I just bought 4 cartons of smokes, so I should be okay for most of the month. I purchase the cheapest cigarettes available because I smoke so much, but the reps from Kool came through the bar last night passing out free packs. Kools are my preferred brand to chain smoke while sucking down coffee and reading what you freaks write.

Brian Lumley is a horror author from the United Kingdom who has continued on the H.P. Lovecraft Cthulian Mythos. He has also created his own incredible multi-verse, starting it all out with the novel, "Necroscope." His series has symbiotic vampire entities that weave flesh as well as souls and various psionically trained super agents fighting each other while discovering the ancient evil threat. Lumley taught me that you can put anything you want into a story, any interest you have, and you don't need to stick to one genre alone.

There are tons of file sharing programs out there these days, but I still stick with Limewire. Part of this is because I'm working on an E-Mac, but mostly it's because I find it the most friendly of the programs. I don't really feel bad for pirating music, especially when the bands I'm usually looking up are so obscure that they only gather two or three hits anyhow. I figure I can do more good to actually hear the music (that I wouldn't otherwise) and promote the band through word of mouth. Of course, then there's also porn... but that's another post entirely.

Sigur Ros changed the way I thought about music. Structured like a classical composure instead of "jammed out," their songs are seven minute long slow epics about, um... well, no one is really sure. They used to think the lead singer (who's name is totally unpronounceable) was singing in his own language. Then they figured out he was singing in an ancient Norse dialect. So yeah, chances are the songs are about vikings and Thor and shit. That's awesome. Iceland is so freakin' weird. I mean, look at Bjork!

I don't watch a whole lot of television. I'll go for weeks without turning it on. Then something will flip in my head, and I'll watch it for three days straight. Occasionally, I'll rent movies or TV series that I've missed. Such was the case with "The 4400." Holy shit, this is a complex show. Four thousand, four hundred people that have gone missing, that have vanished over the last sixty years suddenly appear by a lake near Seattle. They have no memory of where they've been, and for them, no time has passed. Some have come back with new and powerful abilities as well. Who took them and why? And more importantly, why have they been returned? You name a plot device, this show has it.

I like booze. I find I usually prefer clear liquors over amber ones. Give me Vodka and Rum instead of Whiskey and Tequila. But I really like Scotch, so I dunno. A little bit of Ginger Ale or Tonic Water can do wonders for a drink, but my secret ingredient that I add to just about everything is Daily's Sour Mix. Just a splash can take the bite off and you can serve it to anyone - even the college girls who are use to that Mike's Hard Lemonade shit. Trust me, this information can come in very useful...

Fuck Post-It notes. The greatest invention of the last fifty years has been the Sharpie marker. Can anyone argue this? Okay, Duct Tape comes in a close second, but every single living human being on the planet owns three half dead Sharpies. Yes, even in Rwanda, there's some some guys pissed off right now because his Sharpie has dulled it's little point and it's coming out semi-gray. Now they have retractable, multi-tiped, pocket-sized ones and come in every color of the rainbow. Mmmm... Sharpies!

If you live in the Western World, you have seen at least one movie based on a book by Michael Crichton. "Jurassic Park," or "The Andromeda Strain?" Maybe "Congo" or "Sphere?" Then there's "Rising Sun" and "Disclosure," as well as "Timeline" and "Eaters Of The Dead" which was re-titled "The 13th Warrior." All of books are researched to the point of a master's thesis and this is hugely influential to me. His latest book, "Prey," is perhaps his best yet. I'm not even gonna tell you what it's about, but if you look at those impressive titles, you know it has to be good.

Do you wanna laugh yourself into a coma? Okay wait... first, do you have an IQ over 120? You probably will need it to even get most of the jokes that Eddie Izzard tells. This British actor/comedian does some of the most hysterical stand up I've ever seen. And he does it in drag, which makes it even more bizzare. Mostly historical and theological in nature, he has some of the most quotable lines ever uttered. "Cake or death?"

One of the greatest musical tragedies of the 1990's was the complete snubbing by the United States of the great British band, The Catherine Wheel. Lead by the amazing vocalist/guitarist Rob Dickenson, TCW was one of the United Kingdom's answers to the US's "Grunge" movement. Tighter and more ethereal, TCW released six albums, the final two ("Adam & Eve" and Wishville") being their best, but in no way discounting their previous works. You may have been lucky enough to hear the songs "Black Metallic" or "Way Down" back when MTV played 120 Minutes, but I doubt it.

From what I understand, there weren't all that many people who liked the film "Silent Hill." I can't even fathom why. I'm not a gamer, I never played the game, but I knew enough about it. I found this movie visually stunning and atmospheric, its iconic portrayal of "Darkness and Evil" unlike anything I had seen before. Granted, there were some confusing parts, but I think those were moot points compared to the overall effect. I watched this movie, half in awe, half in rage that I hadn't thought up the imagery for one of my stories.

Rachael Leigh Cook makes me smile. Ever since she appeared in that damn drug commercial, where she beat up a kitchen with a frying pan, she's made me smile. Yeah, "She's All That" and the Pussycat movie were lame. Go rent "Tangled," "Scorched" and "The Big Empty." Gorgeous and talented. And I bet gamer nerds love her, too. It would seem she does the voice of the character "Tifa" for all the Final Fantasy 7 stuff.

Out of all the possible artists there have ever been out there, Dave McKean had effected me more than anyone else. His concepts of multimedia work inspired me greatly when I was in art school and I've often tried to understand exactly how he achieved certain design elements. He's often collaborated with writer Neil Gaiman on various projects, most well known, "The Sandman" series for Vertigo. This month, their film "Mirrormask" comes out on DVD. Gaiman's dreamy tale brought to life by McKean's visuals. I will probably have an orgasm.

They're young, they're hot, they're twins and they're possibly lesbians. The Canadian duo Tegan & Sara make folk-rock via punk tunes in the same realm as Ani DiFranco used to. I'm pretty sure T&S stole Ani's super powers since Ms. DiFranco hasn't made a good song in years. Even though they have a handful of albums under their petite little belts, they are just now poised to take over the US. Good, maybe they'll succeed where TaTu failed...

Five bucks says Indoninja hated the movie "V For Vendetta." You know, since the whole film was about destroying the establishment? Anyhow, I walked intro seeing this a bit skeptical. The original writer of the "V4V" was Alan Moore, creator of "Constantine," "From Hell" and "League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen." I enjoyed all those movies, but the Wachowski Brothers had fucked up the last Matrix so badly, I was a bit worried. I shouldn't have been. This film was brilliant on a level that hasn't been seen in years and should be required viewing for anyone who is beginning to question certain positions our leaders are taking in power. Yes, I know it was fiction, but it was still damn good.

Silwnt hill blew, if you have slightly above average intellegence and think "drugs are cool" you will like eddie izzard, most everything else on the list I liked. Including V for Vendetta.

I don't think any comic book can be done justice with movies, but as far as movies like that go it did a good job.

As far as people liking V simply because it was "anti-establishment" or an aptly timed message about what we should do or be afraid of in America they are mildly retarted. I am not some rabid pro-govt figure, I have problems with the govt, I am just not stupid enough to blame every ill on the world on some govt conspiracy. I realize that no govt is perfect but that stupid stories about evil govt plots do nothing but prevent us from fighting real problems.

I never really got into The 4400, although I do love Monk and Dead Zone.

You might like Eureka on SciFi, too, if you haven't seen it.

It's first season, and just a bit quirky, but it's on SciFi, so it'll get a chance to flesh out everything and go from really good to great.

First of all, try to cut back on the smokes.

I liked Silent Hill. Like you, never seen the game - don't play - don't care - found the movie very atmospheric

I also liked V for Vendetta. V did shit at the box office, less than crap like RV, Pink Panther, Failure to Launch... the list goes on and on but why depress ourselves. The 70's was my coming-of-age decade, so I appreciate the themes of civil disobedience as potentially both a citizen's right and duty that are present in V. Unfortunately, in these post 9-11 days of "if you criticise Bush the terrorists' win" and "we're at war dammit!" that attitude is highly unpopular, and likely hurt the movie.

Mirrormask was beautiful but deadly slow. For starters, they should have picked a more lively and engaging young lady for the lead, and not one apparently on quaaludes during filming.

If you're an Alan Moore fan, have you read The Watchmen? I keep reading that this or that Hollywood group is contemplating making a movie out of that.

Two points,

I only managed to guess that a sharpie was some kind of pen from what you wrote about it.

Limewire? Wow, I used to have that my anti-virus systems went INSANE. I like emule best. Only a single piece of adward that I can remember from it.

Was that a shout out to Spencer at the end there?

I don't reckon you need to be a genius to understand Eddie Izzard, it just helps if you know a fair bit about history and stuff. Most of his jokes seem prety simple, extremely simple often.
