Ive been reading submissions on the site for a while and critiqued a few, but im now posting for the first time, and about something i take very seriously. Let me set up a background so some of the inadvertent presumptions i make in this post are vehemently clear. This is the unequivocal truth as I see it, a soldier currently in Iraq. I am with the United States Army, and with the MI Corps as an Imagery Analyst... i just think that may i need to dispel any stereotypes that go with "Army" and "Intelligence". When i say things like spineless liberals, i mean just that... the people jumping on the anti-war bandwagon with no agenda or plan of their own other than anti-war.. and with the facade of a "Phased Pullout" which in reality means nothing... and this isnt meant to slam all liberals, just those who fit into this category.

Be kind or not, just be truthful and fruitful with your opinons.

I think it is truly remarkable that people have the ability to degrade the choices our government has made due to the fact that its trendy and popular. I am sickened to hear the limp dicked, Liberal, borderline Godless arguments against these wars that werent taken into action on a whim, but are so readily blown aside as if they were. Dont misunderstand me, I am all for a good opinion on either side of the debate, but when I hear things like "Terrorism is so last year" or maybe "Sectarian violence is so passe" it makes me want to spew hot lava from my mouth onto your face. I dont understand where an entire political party cant look introspectively, however they think they can lay down a blueprint for the FUTURE by focusing on something that happened in the PAST. Some of you readers may say "We learn from our mistakes" or the profound "Hindsight is 20/20", but please save it for someone who wants to hear the same recycled bullshit. Some of you may say "But wait, I support the troops, just not the cause".. on what planet are you living in? The troops have to have faith in the mission and the person tasking it in order to carry it out successfully, so we dont want you patting us on the back with one hand while you give our Commander the bird with the other.

I cant see where the American public can shift this as blame and soldiers dying on a set group of people who made an impossible decision, to send the country to war. How dare any of you tell me you cant support the war because we aren't here for the right reasons. I just hope to my God that you spineless liberals will stop propogating these lies in order to induce some sort of fleeting mass panic that could possibly incite a pullout from this country, leaving a vacuum for anyone to fill.

Im not playing blind man, my eyes are wide open.

I think you should re-read what I wrote.

THEORIES ARE BASED ON LOGIC.

Theory - a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural, in contrast to well-established propositions that are regarded as reporting matters of actual fact.

No, theory is not based on facts..................ahhahahahhahhahha.

I am going to end this little conversation, you may take the last word if you must. Our main difference is that you believe changing the world through logic is possible and I don't. The fact is that I am right until someone proves me wrong, but I am confident that you nor anyone ever will.

This is not apathy, and this is not a negative view on life. It is not sad or depressing, and it is not hopeless. I simply accept that worldwide change through logic is impossible. It is a truth, and until someone does change the world for better through logic, it is a truth. You don't accept it, but you have no foundation to reject it. This issue is not a matter of logic, but theory. It is a view that you have and yet cannot prove. You should be more careful when you start to spew your theories as facts.

Because this post does suck, here is my -2.

"What are you doing besides enabling the cycle of stupidiy to continue with your apathy and intellectual distain?"

I speak my mind, I speak against racism and other issues of importance and ignorance alike. I am not like you, however. The reason that I speak out against irrational thought is to put my own logic and theory into practice, to put it to the test against arguement. It is not to change people. I don't believe the world can be changed. I don't fantasize about an idealistic world because, here I am. Don't get me wrong, if I knew I could do something to change it then I would, but I can't, you can't, and no one can. This is the sad truth that you are unwilling to accept. You may call it apathy, well I say prove me wrong.

---

Of course you are not like me... only I am like me.

I'm glad you speak out about racism and these other unmentioned "issues of importance and ignorance alike"... but all of that is for shit if you walk around with such a negative world view.

You obviously lack hope... and that is a little sad. It would be depressing to be so sure that this world is hopeless.

People need to be changed... and any change that will be affected will have to be gradual and accomplished with reasonable arguments and discussions. It just so happens that I am a very reasonable kid, and I do change many minds. Diplomacy and respect are great tools in establishing and maintaining conversations.

Very rarely are minds changed with name calling - and sadly that is the prevailing method of communication these days (especially around here) and that needs to change. Somehow.

I will do nothing to prove you wrong, for that's terrible motivation for anything.

I say and do the things because I think I am right - yet I am always open to examine every position I hold and entertain the possibility that I might be wrong.

Although it doesn't happen very often.

From my experience you will never change an irrational person. You have to understand that personalities differ greatly and some people are incapable of viewing the world objectively. Logic does not work on these people but physical force most certainly does. How many racists have you converted recently? My point is some people will never change, they are incapable because they have been conditioned.

---

You haven't tried hard enough.

I have... but it's fucking hard work and really annoying.

Personalities DIFFER?

SERIOUSLY? Ok fine, that's not helpful - and I appreciate your measured discourse, so please try to avoid talking down to me. Of course people have different personalities, that is what makes us unique (just like everyone else...har har).

I don't think people are incapable of looking at the world objectively - I just think they are either unwilling or just simply haven't been shown any alternatives.

---
"Logic does not work on these people but physical force most certainly does."
---

BULLSHIT.

a) logic CAN work... it just doesn't for some reason. I suspect in many cases it is because of the violence associated with generations of humanity kicking the ever loving shit out each other.

b) How is all that physical force doing in Iraq these days? Palestine?...Darfur? ...South Africa? Oh it has its moments, sure - but it certainly isn't perfect.

I call out racism all the time. I think its pathetic and I don't appreciate it. I moderate people in my own circle of influence - I do not tolerate it, nor do I participate in it out of any malice or insensitivity.

People will never change if we just let them continue to be fucking assholes.

---
There you just contradicted yourself on the only point that I really disagreed with. "War is stupid. Period." It isn't because like you said, we live in an imperfect world with many assholes and sometimes war is necassary. "War is stupid. Period." That statement is only true if we lived in your idealistic world, but we don't, do we?
---

No, not yet. But I am doing what little I can to bring about change... as meager as that effort currently is. What are you doing besides enabling the cycle of stupidiy to continue with your apathy and intellectual distain?

I will tell you this: We would be a lot fucking happier if we lived in my idealistic world.

Kumbaya motherfuckers!

"Here is a little tip: 'simply' following orders means you are programmed. That is the nature of the armed forces, right? You follow orders or people die? I've seen the movies and I too have friends who are soldiers."
---

Beautifully said! That was... um... oh. I said that. Fuck I'm smart.

---
So if you joined the military and we entered into a war which you opposed what would you do? Would you face the consequences of disobeying orders? It is possible to be a part of something, to follow orders while disagreeing with them. There is a difference between mind and body, and programming involves the mind.
---

I wouldn't join the military.

I'm terrified of pain, getting shot or having to actually shoot someone else. I couldn't do it.

I'm not really good with orders... so disobeying them would not be out of character - especially if I believed strongly enough in what I was refusing to do. Bottom line is I would make a terrible soldier...heck I even have flat feet!

The author of this post talked about assumptions... don't assume that I am not entirely respectful of his particular occupation. I happen to think the military in ALL of the nations around this world are needed to keep peace. The THREAT of violence is often times enough to moderate even the most belligerent of the assholes fucking shit up around this planet... but as I mentioned earlier sometimes the boot needs to connect to the dink.

None of this changes my assertion that soldiers are 'programmed'... although perhaps 'conditioned' is a better word - but then we are just getting into semantics aren't we?

Bunkers need to be rushed, bombs need to be dropped and yes: orders need to be followed...we just need FAR better fucking people handing them down from the top.

>>I am sickened to hear the limp dicked, Liberal, borderline Godless arguments against these wars that werent taken into action on a whim, but are so readily blown aside as if they were.<<

Take that, or pretty much anything else you'll find above, and when you take away the posturing and some of the downright corny language, all you'll really find is a strategic conglomeration of catch phrases, insults, and qualifiers conspicuously crafted draw heat without making any real point or statement. In other words, it's either shennanigans or shoddy writing.

"Let me set up a background so some of the inadvertent presumptions i make in this post are vehemently clear."

----

The above sentence makes very little sense.

----

Let me explain this a little better as you don't appear to be capable of acknowledging your inadequacies:

*****************
inadvertent  /nədvrtnt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[in-uhd-vur-tnt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation

-adjective 1. unintentional.
*****************

Let's do some quick substitution here.

"Let me set up a background so some of the unintentional presumptions i make in this post are vehemently clear."

Unintentional presumptions you're going to make 'vehemently clear'?

Kid, this is terrible writing. I'm just saying. Believe me if you want or not, but I don't have to be in-line with what ANY of the 12 idiots before me said about this post to be right.

Idiot.

I laughed my ass off after I read rob's response. Thats what I want to hear.
For the record its not programming, the Army is one big corporation full of more assholes than most, and I am not renewing my contract after 4 years, so no, I am not programmed, and nor am I some stupid kid who made a dumb decision and is now trying feverishly to get out... That assumption is a dangerous one to make about "Programmed Soliders", simply because I follow orders doesnt mean I am programmed... and that is a doubly dangerous assumption to make because I have friends who are soldiers who share the same opinions as you... just because we use guns doesnt make the lot of us Republicans. I am one, however I find myself in the minority believe it or not.

---

Yet you still barf out the same tired pro-ignorance drivel.

For the record it IS programming... I'm hearkened to see that you are at least somewhat self-aware, but that doesn't change the fact your post is stuffed with bullshit.

I never inferred you were a stupid kid... although that certainly doesn't exclude you from being a painfully stupid adult.

Here is a little tip: 'simply' following orders means you are programmed. That is the nature of the armed forces, right? You follow orders or people die? I've seen the movies and I too have friends who are soldiers.

War is stupid. Period.

'We' SHOULD question it.

We should have the good sense as a society to avoid it as well. The fact that we don't makes me a sad panda.

"...I didnt write two or three rough drafts before I posted, because Im not nearly as sanctimonius as half of the users on this site. ..."
---

No, that just means you are lazy... and from the content of your little blurb here obviously quite ignorant.

Having the courtesy to slather up your post with a little effort isn't 'sanctimonious' - however your tone and most of your insipid content certainly come close.

---
"...i just think that may i need to dispel any stereotypes that go with "Army" and "Intelligence"."
---

 'I think that may I need' ? 

Of ALL the sentences to fuck up - you managed to shit the bed on the one where you attempt to highlight just how smart you are. That is classic.

---
"When i say things like spineless liberals, i mean just that... the people jumping on the anti-war bandwagon with no agenda or plan of their own other than anti-war.. and with the facade of a "Phased Pullout" which in reality means nothing... and this isnt meant to slam all liberals, just those who fit into this category."
---

I'm anti-war and quite liberal. I have been against this particular Iraq debacle from the very beginning - although it's a terrible 'I told you so' situation, what with all the death and destruction STILL going on so it gives me little comfort to say 'I FUCKING KNEW IT'.

See? Nothing. Not even a smidgen of satisfaction... partially because I know I am only talking to someone with his opinion drilled into him, his blinders fully on, rhetoric locked and loaded and just itchin' to spew...

Although you DO manage to utilize a fairly impressive amount of talking points into such a relatively small offering. You do get credit for that.

"spineless liberals"
"jumping on the anti-war bandwagon"
"I am sickened to hear the limp dicked, Liberal, borderline Godless arguments against these wars"

and my personal favourite:

"The troops have to have faith in the mission and the person tasking it in order to carry it out successfully"

Those are little more than just regurgitated gems of distractive bullshit. Hooray for your programming, soldier.

See, what you seem to conveniently forget is that this proposed "Phased Pullout" is only a result the initial "Retarded Insertion"... this war was a cluster fuck from the very beginning - I blame EVERYone. All of you fucking Americans who enabled Bushco. and his merry band of idiots to run that god-forsaken country of yours. I also blame every last one of the asshole chicken shit countries that willingly signed up to be part of the "Coalition of the Willing". All of them have the blood of thousands of innocent people on their hands as well.

In fact, all of the respective citizens of the world who allowed their leaders to continually make such horrible choices for them deserve your hot lava on their collective faces more than the people who continue to highlight that this war is WRONG.

We are all apathetic and stupid.

ALL war is Wrong... Sometimes it is necessary, but that doesn't make it right... innocent people are dying every day... yet we let that shit happen because we are too busy arguing semantics and overwhelmed with a feeling on helplessness and the notion of "what can I do?"

We suck.

"Im not playing blind man, my eyes are wide open."

So is your mouth, it would seem, and you have an impressive ability to deep-throat almost the entire shaft of propaganda. Good for you soldier.

Now get home safe, please.

Oathmeal you are the only person to say anything I said "Doesnt make sense" considering its been reviewed by about a dozen people and they dont feel the same way... I didnt write two or three rough drafts before I posted, because Im not nearly as sanctimonius as half of the users on this site.

And that sentence makes sense, Im stating that I make some assumptions about my reader and audience and its a caveat to those whom dont fall into that category.

And I said near Godless... some of you users need to quote the entire context in which I am using these items, not just a select red-flag word.

I call shennanigans. I hate hippies and metrosexuals as much as the next guy, but this is just a bunch of catch phrases masquerading as s post in order to generate heat and piss people off. 'godless' (let alone 'Godless') is a dead giveaway; no intelligent human being has used that word (outside of performances of "The Crucible") since we dunked witches and blamed food poisoning on evil spirits.

That said, what's your next heat-inspiring post gonna be about? "People shouldn't get abortions"? "Global Warming is a load of hooey"? "Raping babies -- just say no"?

"Let me set up a background so some of the inadvertent presumptions i make in this post are vehemently clear."

----

The above sentence makes very little sense.

Due diligence, soldier, due diligence. www.dictionary.com is a WONDERFUL tool.

I think there's a reason (and this is a prime example of such reason) that the "join the army: get an education" ads work so well.

Of course I'm fashionably dis-establishment. I've reached a point that I love what the establishment has created for me here in the spectacular USA, but everyday, I see these fucking idiots on TV that can't string together a coherent paragraph or two, for their lives. That is simply such an aggregious breach of the America that I would rather it be, that I can't be respectful of these peoples' decisions anymore. And no, to be truthful, I don't do jack shit to change the country, but then again, I'd rather not. This way of life that I can make for myself here is awesome. I love what I can do, and that I have the finest military in the world to defend it, but the current people that are responsible for our world relations are borderline retarded. I just hope we can start to do better, and I hope that we can make the world better, but it's debatable that we are right now.

Be safe and keep on your toes.

I've always been astonished at how the word liberal has become such a negative thing. In reality, liberals are merely people who are looking for change, while conservatives want things to remain the same. Granted, there are people who are classified as liberal that don't abhor to the actual definition of one.

Secondly, I'm yet to here a good reason for the invasion of Iraq other than because we *thought* they had weapons of mass destruction. Yeah, Saddam was ruling with an iron fist, but what people don't seem to understand is that in that region you HAVE to rule that way, or else things get how they are now.

I dont think anyone is without their hypocrisy.. making me no exception.

You are twisting my words, im not stomping on your freedom, im saying what your are doing with it in my opinion is wrong... not worthwhile. Im not trying to infringe upon your rights, I am saying that the intense bias that seems to be force-fed by ALL OF THE MEDIA is very tiring... unless the news is a complete farce it is without bias... i just want to be able to hear what happens without having someones opinion attached to it, but that is just like me requesting news from a robot, which would have intrinsically human responses because it is built for and by humans... wow this is more complicated than i thought..

How dare any of you tell me you cant support the war because we aren't here for the right reasons.
===
I dare.

"Because it's trendy and popular?" WHO says "terrorism is so last year?" Really- where did you hear that?

And how dare you, a supposed protector of freedom, disparage my freedom to question my government? Isn't that the same freedom you're fighting to provide to Iraq?

It's impossible for you to dispel stereotypes when in the very next sentence, you start spewing them out yourself.

Hope you stay safe, so we can continue this argument when you get home.

Barney: Boy, you never stop eating and you don't gain a pound.

Homer: It's my metaba-ma-lism. I guess I'm just one of the lucky ones.
