One of the great things about Ubersite is that it is many things to many people (well not THAT many, but you know what I mean).
Some people tell jokes or amusing stories or post interesting/digusting pictures - as long as it's relatively recent and interesting, it'll get some attention. Some people use Uber to pull pranks. Some people think Ubersite is a serious writers forum and make 38-part posts about the bowel movements of fictional Central European warrior-monks. Some people like to put on false personas and create new identities to get attention - rarely, these are done well (Michael Jackson, Electro, Jewtoast), but mostly, they are not (pretty much half the posts on today's front page).
As for myself, I don't post often - I write a few good stories now and then, but mostly prefer to model shots of my lingerie collection and put up stupid musings. Honestly, I'm too lazy to spend a lot of time writing well, and I prefer to concentrate on my real skill - writing snappy comebacks and retorts. Mostly this comes out during UberMadness, but I do get a few good shots in now and then.
Pulling people's chains is what I like.
So, one of our latest and greatest n00bs has decided to make his bid for notoriety and win UberFame and UberFortune - we all succumb to it, I've seen it countless times. Instead of trying to win it all with style (Pentameter), or brute force (jimthefiend), he has decided to do it by whining (OathMeal).
He whines, he bitches, he camps incessantly on his own posts, he gives out retal -2s - if this were Uber Alien Resurrection, he'd be like one of those failed clones of jgreening, flapping about spastically.
Anyhow, so yesterday, I'm shooting off my mouth on of OathMeal's posts, and he actually wrote this in response:
"Fuck you Jonny. You've done nothing but disenfranchise me and play down my efforts to win acceptance here. You're a sad man who gets FAR more credence than you deserve."
This is GREAT! I can just imagine his pudgy ginger fingers stabbling the keyboard in righteous indignation. 'How DARE he? How could JonnyX stop me from taking my proper place at the right hand of Method as part of the UberElite, which I so desperately desperately crave? It's not fair...it's just not fair <sobs> I'm gonna -2 Jonny with my Cinderblock alter 15 times....WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH'
Ahhh. <chuckles> Any day where I can crush the hopes and dreams of a young n00b...is a good day indeed.

Do you ever think that when people are on here claiming that the persona they created for uber purposes is nothing like them in real life that what they are really saying is that they lack the balls to act in real life the way they do online?

UOM was on gabbly and I got on. Soon as I did he started in on me.
So I decided to fuck around, give him shit.
Got him so mad he challenged me to a "Write Off".
I told him to suck off, and he got even MORE pissy, and for the next 15 minutes proceeded to do nothing but spout gay and fat jokes and say he was better than me because he works a phone bank for some Atlanta based computer school thing.
Then he started giving out personal info like name/phone/work/etc.
Jokingly threated to make his life hell.

Do you ever think that when people are on here claiming that the persona they created for uber purposes is nothing like them in real life that what they are really saying is that they lack the balls to act in real life the way they do online?
I wonder about this in the same way that I wonder if people who drive like assholes are just assholes, mild mannered people who are really assholes deep down and know that they are safe acting out behind the wheel of a car, or if they are just so clueless that they don't realize that they are driving like assholes.
There is a guy in my neighborhood who damn near runs me off the road on a daily basis. I think he works third shift or something because he's always careening wildly down the street when I'm out running with my dogs. The really confusing thing is that he smiles and waves happily as I'm diving into the hedges so as not to end up as a hood ornament. Maybe he's just waving and smiling in a "get you next time" kind of way I'm just not sure.
