Born in a small village, in a rural state, where religion rules. As a young boy, it all seemed normal, until he found out his origins.
Eight Years Pass
You come from a long line of warriors. His mother explained. It is in your blood to fight for what you believe in, to die for what you believe in.
She stayed silent for a few years after, until training began. She rushed him out of the house, not telling him where he is headed. They finally arrive; he looks up and sees the sign Dojo Karate-do.
Mommy, am I going to learn Karate?
Son, its your fate, its your calling Youll understand later in life.
Ok mommy, will I be ok?
Of course, now go along.
8 years pass, and with that he grows to become a very strong martial artist, fighting 4, 5, 6 people at a time. He is endowed with perfect form, razor sharp memory, and reaction times twice as fast as a normal human.
"Mother, I want to leave Karate-do"
"How come? I thought martial arts were your passion."
"But Im different from the other kids."
"What do you mean?"
"You see, all the other kids have fun, break rules, and get women by the truckload."
"Well its good you arent doing those things sweetheart."
"I cant believe that, I feel like Im missing out on so much fun."
"Okay son, Ill let you leave Karate, but remember Karate will never leave you."
He continues with school. He still doesnt fit in, fearing the consequences of breaking rules. He has lived by Japanese values for many years, citing The nail that sticks out gets hammered. He finishes school, only ever finding two women he had interest in, but only has a relationship with one.
"Sensei, why is it so hard for me to find women?"
"You have the true heart of a warrior, strong, caring, fair, and most of all filled with compassion and love."
"So what is that supposed to mean? Im just a loser?"
"No, it means when you find a woman with a pure heart and soul you two will be fated together."
"How long does that take Sensei?"
"Sensei looks down, with several seconds of silence. It can take a lifetime, it is hard to find a man with a warriors heart, and his wifes heart must be even stronger."
"So am I destined to die alone?"
"It is a possibility"
"Yes sensei, thank you for your help."
"Go forth, youll find your love. Your heart and soul are pure. Just never forget who you are."
"Yes sensei, but how do I talk to women, how do I find the one for me?"
"Fate, young one, just flow with the river of life. One day when you least expect it, youll be stranded on the island of love."
"So just be myself?"
"Just let your heart shine through, and remember all that Ive taught you."
"Yes Sensei, domo origato for all you have taught me in life."
"And thank you for showing me that a pure hearted warrior still exists."
Since that day, student and teacher have never seen each other again. With only one conversation years later.
"Greene Sensei, this is *blank*."
"Oh, I havent spoken to you in years. Getting married already?"
"No sensei, Ive called to ask about teaching Karate."
"So you want to teach? Ok, you were my best student. Only teach what is in your heart to teach. I have entrusted you with secrets of Karate-do and only the pure hearted can truly master those techniques."
"So *blank* Sensei, I assume you have found a woman."
"No Greene Sensei, Ive only ever found one woman with a pure heart. She has gone; I havent seen her in almost 2 years."
"Did you, and do you love her?"
"Love? No sensei. Ive only had the grace of looking into her eyes and seeing the true matter of her soul."
"Is that not enough to love someone?"
"It is, but remembers Sensei, these arent the old days. I just want to take it slow if Im ever graced with her presence again."
"So you have journeyed into your heart over these last few years."
"Yes Greene Sensei, I must go now."
"Good luck in teaching your class, and in finding love."
"Domo Origato, may the river of life take you to the sea of bliss."
A few days later the school semester starts. *Blank* Sensei is traveling through life, going where the wind takes him. Many dates come and go; many women and not one with a proper heart.
One day *Blank* sensei stumbles upon the woman from the past, the one with the heart of a queen. They make small talk through several classes. Her beauty, her aura seems to extend further than with anyone before. Her smile breaks hearts of stone.
He looks deep into his soul to figure out what must be done. He sees that he must take it one step at a time. He knows in his heart that he will never win love without patience, balance, and time. He knows this may just be another step in finding higher love and intelligence.

While this held my interest to some slight extent, it contains one of my grammarnazi triggers: "...and reaction times twice as fast as a normal human." If the average human has a (let's say) 2 second reaction time, your character then has a reaction time of 4 seconds: twice 2 seconds. If your character can react in half the time that a normal human would require, his reaction time is half as fast. Either way it is confusing. A more succinct description might be something like "...and is able to comprehend and react to a threat before a normal human would begin to recognize danger."
Or maybe I'm just being overly critical. That's a possibility too.

When you drive 30mph you are going half as fast as the guy doing 60mph.
When you drive 80 you are going twice as fast at that truck doing 40.
"Twice as fast" means it happens in half the time. :)

No, I didn't spend very long on this.
I was just feeling rather emotional this morning, and had to write about myself and my crush.
And yes, my reaction time is .25, whereas the normal person has a reaction time of.5 seconds.

Wow. I mean, there was the part when the cobra came out and I was all, "Oh noes there going to get teh Jackson!" But them Samuel L strangled it with a shoelace, and -- oh wait, that was something different.
