How about classing violent people as violent people and non-violent people as non-violent people and leaving religion, race, nationality out of it?
There are surely some calm rational thinking Islamic people who condemn violence, how about letting them be the true representatives of Islam? They are more capable.
How do you justify being hateful and violent towards a group which has some hateful and violent people, but also a large amount of non-violent people?

they need to step up and take control of their group.
/this is your main point/
the problem is every organization is self-policing to a point.
/why is this a problem?/
if the non-violent ones aren't willing to take responsibility for the people they're affiliated with, apologize for it and try to fix it then it doesn't matter.
/what doesn't matter?/
they can be lumped together into one group because they choose to say hey we're muslim, so are they.
/we are human, so are they. We aren't rabbits, so aren't they, so what? take some responsibility/
just because they say hey we're not with them doesn't mean they're really not to at least some degree.
/expand that and you end up with we're all human beings/
i say i'm christian, immediately that gets a load of bad things coming up, mostly fundamentalists and stuff like that. i choose to put myself into a group labeled christian. i do not have control over what every christian does, but i don't think that should stop me from apologizing for a member of MY group and trying to atone for their wrongdoings and change future actions.
/do you actively do this? And these voices apologising and atoning etc. ARE there dude, they are there, its happening, there are attempts, help them out, listen to them/
the nonviolent ones don't set the standard. they just try to separate themselves from the violent nuts instead of trying to make amendments for the actions a group they voluntarily put themselves in. people will always categorize themselves. if you want to be given a good label you need to make the name for yourself and your people, that includes correcting your brethren.
/they are doing this, stop listening to the nuts as the voice of Islam, and find the rational voice and listen to it/

---
Because per capita, they have the highest proportion of violent people to population.
So, STATISTICALLY, it's a pretty easy justification.

You are simply unwilling to let go of a prejudice if you resort to statistics.

Thank you, iradney. Took the words right out of my mouth.
As there are some Catholics that don't completely adhere to everything they read in the bible, it's possible not every Muslim thinks every non-Muslim should die. Until you've personally interviewed every single Muslim person in the world, you couldn't know, so why assume the worst about someone before knowing anything about him?
I think the world would be a better place if everyone thought of everyone else as a person instead of a member of some group. Forget the stereotypes or common misconceptions or what you heard from so-and-so, just judge a person on his actions and his actions alone.

Goddamit, MEANT to type"
the MAJORITY of religions condemn other religions. if all people who belonged to a religion that condemned other beliefs (like, oh, say, SCIENTOLOGY? JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES? CATHOLICISM?) should die, the world would be a pretty empty place.
