I have someones ipod, and it has a few thousand songs on it. i also have itunes on my computer, with a cd that I want to transfer to the ipod. This other person is very worried that I'm going to wipe all the songs off of it. Apparently the only way is to transfer all the songs from the ipod onto the computer, then add the songs from the cd into the playlist and then transfer that playlist over to the ipod.

There must be a way where you can just transfer one song from the computer to the ipod without wiping anything, does anybody know this method if it exists?

This is precisely why I own a basic MP3 player manufactured by RCA instead of an iPod. 1/4th the cost, and works just as well.

I had this problem too, what u need to do i walk around in wool socks on carpet and then open the case to your computer. MAKE SURE NOT TO GROUND YOURSELF. Once you have the case open, touch your hard drive, RAM, and anything else u can lay your fingers on.

Static Electricity solves ALL PROBLEMS.

yes, no worries - here's what you do.
Just place a large magnet next to your computer's hard drive, the magnetic field will keep your ipod safe and sound...

No shit.

Its called TROUBLESHOOTING YOU TECHNICALLY INEPT FUCKWADS.

FUCK ME DO POSTS LIKE THIS CHAFE MY ASS AND BALLS.

1) This isnt a FAQ site
2) I had this same problem and figured out how to fix it in about 2.5 seconds
3) There is a GREAT FAQ section on the apple ipod site, while i am sure that it is far too much work for you to do that and you would rather be spoon fed every little answer to every little problem you encounter i bet you will find more success in life in general if you try to figure the occasional thing out for yourself. Then you wouldnt be stuck behind the counter of a fast food restaurant at the age of 50 pondering how the fuck you managed to end up here.
4) Eat shit and die cockgobbler.

Boatplank, there is one, simple program out there that will solve all of your problems here.

It's called YamiPod.

Just do a search or something ... it's freeware.

Yeah, the problem is I don't have the space to transfer onto this computer. And if ipod didn't make it this way then they are a bunch of dorks because this would seem the logical way. Unless they ran into a problem and were too lazy to sort it out.

So naked the way you said, if I have just one song and transfer into the ipod, the ipod will receive the new one song and include it with all the rest?

Hook up the iPod
Go to "Edit"
Go to "View Preferences"
Go to "iPod"
Click on "Manually manage songs and playlists"
Click "Ok"
Drag the playlist to the iPod

Happy trails!

It does not exist. When you update the iPod with just one song, all songs are wiped from the iPod except for the one song you added.

What you need to do is transfer all songs from the iPod to your computer first. There IS a way, I'm just not sure how.
