The ripple, reed and redbreast in decline,
The knock, tock and ticking-quick cut of time
Against the bending bough, a summer sun
Remembered, a lost spring ringing dead, done.
Still water shadowless, gray-eyed river,
Now the harvest the hard earth delivers,
Wellstone-tumbled buckets humbled, recalled
Alone, suspended, waiting for the fall.
A slow report, from month to month is passed
Until the court of Nature hears at last.
Her consort's whisper on the water walks:
The fear, the frost, beat level earth and air
To hew the day in half, a laugh, a shock
Of silence for song, where blossom, despair.
Undone, the mother dresses now in reds,
In copper cold and goldenrod she drowns,
On mountains, moors and meadows she spreads
The radiance, majestic, of her crown.

You've found me out. I put explicit sounds in each line, to suggest how the changing seasons, like the human orgasm, is evidenced by dramatic fluctuations and changes in temperature.
Hell, the first line's easy..."breast" is right there.
Now, who can find where "prostate" is hidden?

SEE WHAT I JUST DID? I USED "PUMPKIN" AS A TERM OF ENDEARMENT BUT IT ALSO RELATES TO THE SUBJECT MATTER OF THE PIECE WHICH IS AUTUMNAL IN NATURE.
