With Brian speeding and Emily panting in the passenger seat, Wayne and Sandra clung desperately to the door handles for physical and emotional stability. Brian tossed Sandra his cell phone, directing her to call Emily's husband and tell him the situation.
They reached the hospital thirty minutes later, barely beating Emily's husband. Once she was settled in a room, with her husband hovering over her nervously, the other three could finally relax in the waiting room.
"Oh man, how totally crazy is this? Their house is completely gone, do you think she's told him yet?" Sandra plopped down into the nearest chair.
"More importantly, do you think it was Veronica that did it?" Brian rubbed his temples, relieving built up stress.
"What else could have happened to it? So that must mean she has powers like we do, only she's not afraid to use them however she wants." Sandra looked at Wayne, who sat with his eyes closed in the chair next to her.
Brian paced the room, "well, what are we going to do? I don't want to kill anyone, regardless of who they are. I just don't think I could even do it."
Wayne stood up, fire burning in his eyes "she didn't kill your family, she didn't kill your friend's family, and she hasn't been after you that long. I could do it if I had to." Wayne's anger was getting out of control, wisps of smoke began rising from his clothes as the heat smoldered beneath.
"Wayne, get some water and calm down. I think right now we need to protect Emily, we need to make sure her baby is safe." Sandra gave Wayne a reassuring look.
Dark clouds boiled outside, surrounding the hospital and pounding cars with rain. Several car alarms went off, aiding the end of days scene.
"I think that might be her." Sandra stood and prepped herself for battle.
"Brian, go to Emily's room, and stand guard. Sandra, keep people away from windows, tell them it's a tornado or something. Then meet me back here." Wayne's calm demeanor was in stark contrast with his broiling emotions.
Brian ran for Emily's room and Sandra cleared the waiting room of patients.
"Really guys, I'm from Kansas. This is a tornado, we need to find shelter." Sandra helped the nurses usher patients into the hospital storm shelters.
Returning to the waiting room Sandra beheld a battle scene. The front walls had completely disapeared, the waiting area was ablaze with searing heat, and Veronica stood facing off with Wayne, who held a sword made completely out of fire.
Sandra called to Wayne, but he could not hear her through his anger. Veronica, however, swiveled her body, preparing to attack.
Sandra instantly propped her back against the receptionists' desk and hurled volleys of powerful wind at Veronica. Hair thrashing about her face, Veronica sucked the wind into her hands, voiding its life and energy. Laughing menacingly, she then dissolved the desk and marched toward the girl.
Sandra threw a last powerful gale of wind in defense, the force throwing her into the bookshelves behind the now non existent desk. Sandra gave in to the blackness clouding her vision.
Veronica's laughter was cut short as Wayne threw himself into her, slashing with flames. Veronica sucked at the flames, the total inner blackness of her swallowing the fire, but leaving the light. Wayne backed off, his strength beginning to fade.
Brian ran in then, announcing to everyone that Emily had just given birth. He only had time to put his hands up defensively. He vanished, much like the beautiful animals he created had.
Wayne's anger surged anew. He attacked Veronica, casting fireballs of intense heat and sword strokes alike. Veronica ate hungrily at his flame, his anger, his passion. She would weaken him beyond fighting back, she would make him her pet.
Backing off, no longer able to lift what was left of his impressive sword, Wayne began to panic. He was going to die. She was sucking him dry, eating his power. The only power he had left was the soft glow of an internal flame.
She came at him then, wanting to touch his soul, to suck that from him, and he was too weak to stop her.
Her hand came in contact with his chest, sucking hard at the inner flame, licking the bowl clean. When suddenly she shrieked and shied back in terror.
Her hand, the one she had used to finish him off with, was no longer there. It was a shadow at high noon, it was the boogy man when there was a night light.
A smile of understanding crossed Wayne's lips.
He grabbed her to him, hugging her, trapping her with his light. She, fighting desperately, clawing and biting, screaming when more of her was consumed by Wayne's light. Nothing remained but her black outfit.
Wayne found Sandra, knocked out but breathing regularly. He hefted her into his arms and walked out to a taxi.
Sandra awoke to find Wayne staring down at her, a slight glow surrounding his features.
"Good morning, sleepy," Wayne kissed the top of Sandra's head.
"We're on a bus heading for Mexico."
Sandra snuggled her head onto his shoulder and smiled.

You know, I didn't ready any of this series. And looking at the ratings, they weren't a very big hit around here.
But heres a +2 for not getting discouraged and finishing it.
