Richard Wawro was a legally blind autistic savant from Edinburgh, Scotland. He produced prodigious works in the unlikely medium of crayon on paper.
For a biography on this amazing artist and fascinating look into the shattered world of the savant mind, read Richard's bio and obituary (he died early this year). http://www.wisconsinmedicalsociety.org/savant/wawro.cfm
Or watch a film based on him and his condition. In it you will see him producing some of his art from, yes, crayons: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pvys7263DNc&mode=related&search=
Unfortunately, Richard's official webpage seems to be down, but the gallery is still up: http://www.wawro.net/gallery_home.html I encourage whoever owns the url http://www.wawro.net to keep up the site and let the world share the life of this fascinating man.

He's awesome. Might see if I can find a cd or two by him. You know... support him and whatnot. Would that count as charity?

Amazing how he couldn't look at the picture from afar and yet all the elements made sense as a whole.

I bet this guy stole a lot of crayons in his youth. I've had more than a few stolen from me in my time.
I wonder who inhereted his collection? (of crayons)

I associate colors with musical melodies. Music really is a form of painting. Adding an instrument here or extracting one there, or even changing the slightest positioning of a microphone or an EQ knob completely alters the soundscape.
I think when musicians get together, instead of playing a song they already know, they should foresake their left brain and just drone on one chord, in one key or mode for about 20 minutes and see where it leads.
Experimenting in this way is like conjuring spirits. The instruments are simply giving them voices to speak they wouldn't have otherwise had. They will thank you for it.

Okay, I read about this guy a bit through wikipedia, got distracted by a link as I usually do and started progressing from article to article.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia
That's always fascinated me, partly because I thought I might have very mild synesthesia (it affects 1 out of 23 people), associating letters with colours and gender.
Then I saw the section on "number forms", and recognised it immediately as something I experience very very strongly. I've even tried to explain it to a friend before. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_form. Mine is a little different to that (it goes up and to the right) but also includes the clock face for 1 to 12. That's awesome, I'm a synesthete.

No offense to Electro, but I think the thing that has made me laugh the hardest while on Uber was someone, I forget who, asking Electro what super powers he had.
