Wow. How pretty is this, hey? Towering, watchful pines, a few birches interspersed. You see what I mean?

I never used to appreciate stuff like this.

Fact is, after Robbie died I had nowhere to go BUT the forest. With all the things we shared and with how much of a person he helped me grow into, I felt drawn to the forest to help with the grieving.

It seems to be working as only here do I feel really at home.

The soft earth gives a little with each step I take and after a while, walking begins to feel sort of like floating. I like feeling like I'm floating, you know? I wonder if this is how ghosts have it. I wonder if this is how Robbie has it.

I think I'll take this sandwich, thermos and blanket with me and trot down to the riverside. There, where the life-giving water makes love to the soft shoreline, I'll enjoy a nice little lunch. Then maybe I'll leave a note for Robbie in hopes he'll float by sometime soon.

I miss Robbie, but I know once I make it to between the trees my pain will be soothed.
