In an effort to inject some more culture into this place, this is my proposal: change Shit Post Thursday into Song Post Thursday.
Hence, here's one from the vaults...a recording from my college days of the jazz ensemble performing Johnny Mandel's famous composition "A Time For Love." I was lead trombonist in that band (but not the soloist on this particular recording). This was recorded during my senior year, 1999.
If you think you've heard the name Johnny Mandel before...you probably have. In addition to the above tune, he has penned works for popular artists and films, working with greats like Count Basie in the '50s, Frank Sinatra in the '60s ("Ring a Ding Ding"), Natalie and Nat King Cole in 1992 (Grammy-winning instrumental arrangement of "Unforgettable"), and Tony Bennett in 2004 ("The Art of Romance").
Even more recognizable tunes of his from film and television are the M*A*S*H theme song "Suicide is Painless", "The Shadow of Your Smile" from the film "The Sandpiper", and the score for "Caddyshack."
Viva La SPT.

Um, how come you're not on AIM?
===================================
Because the help desk was working on my computer for the last hour. :(
I'll be on shortly.

Or not. Apparently my IM client is not connecting to AOL or Yahoo for some reason now. Damnit.

Sweeeeeeeeeet.
I think SPT can be whatever you want it to be. I do like this idea a lot, but I plan to include some songs in APWs, too.

Since the recording was live, if you listen closely, you can hear some old lady sobbing around the 2:37 mark....
....presumably because of the beauty of the song, I think.
At least, I hope that's why she was crying.
