Megatron tried hard - it wasn't his fault he was surrounded by nobbers. I mean - come on - he retreated when his plans went aglay - cheated to win etc - all the good leadership characteristics.
His main problem was that by transforming, he actually became crapper and made someone else marginally crapper too.
