NFL PIcks: Week 6 (728 hits)

Week 5 in the NFL reverted to form. After two weeks of WTF, last week panned out pretty well. The favorites went 12-3 against the spread.
I did a little worse, going 9-5 on the points, but I was happy with a DAMN fine 13-1 in straight up picks. Fucking Washington... When the hell are they going to decide what kind of team they are? (My other spread losses were Indy, NO, NYJ and KC)
So, with that 9-5, my YTD is now 43-32, and with my personal picks going 4-2 (losing KC and NO) I now sit at 21-9.
Onto week 6 then, shall we?

Game 1: the Kansas City Chiefs(+7) at the Pittsburgh Steelers
Up until yesterday, I was leaning towards Pittsburgh. The game is in Pitt, the Steelers are coming off of a good week of practice, and Larry johnsons isn't 100%.
And then I saw the Friday injured list. Porter os out. Townsend is out. Palumalu is still hurt but playing. So I started to waiver.
And THEN I saw the injured report TODAY.
Starting guard out because of... Frostbite to his heel?
You're fucking kidding me, right?
Steelers are cursed this year, I think, and because of this, *my pick is the Chiefs*.

Game 2: the Seattle Seahawks(-3) at the St. Louis Rams
This is a very important game for both teams. If St. Louis wins, they're up 1 1/2 games in the division. If Seattle wins, they show that they're still the dominant team in the NFC West.
And just like Pitt/KC, injuries are swinging this game. Alexander is still out for the Seahawks, as is 3rd WR Bobby Engram. Meanwhile, St. Louis is healthy and they look very good at home. They've got a very solid defense that covers well, and Haslett is a very good coordinator against muliple receiver sets.
Add in that it's indoors, and I say the *Rams* are my pick.

Game 3: the Houston Texans(+13 1/2) at the Dallas Cowboys
Ok, let's break this down now. Dallas has a bad O-line, an immobile QB who has 7 picks this year, and a receiver who's about to go mental on live TV at any time. Add in a defense that hasd looked pretty bad in their two losses, and has only done anything worthwhile against a Tennessee team that's just not good, and a Washington team that can't figure out what it's supposed to be half the time.
Houston has a bad O-line, an emerging star at QB, two receivers who keep quiet and just catch balls, and a defense that isn't that good, but has shown signs of life under coordinator Richard Smith.
Will Houston win the game? Probably not. But will Dallas win by 14 or more?
I say no, and my pick then, is *Houston*. (Personal Pick #1)

Game 4: the Cincinnati Bengals(+5 1/2) at the Tampa Bay Bucaneers
Well, it's the Injured QB Bowl. Good lord. We all know Simms ruptured his freaking spleen 2 weeks ago, and now Cincy backup Anthony Wright had his appendix out. With all the internal injuries this season, I half expect to see a child born on the field (and more than likely, it's come from someone in Oakland, those fucking pansies)
But... Anyway... Cincy is coming off of a bye week, and they are a solid team. The loss to NE is a bit misleading, simply because I think the Bengals were due for a letdown after killing Pittsburgh, and NE was playing posessed because of the loss to Denver. Tampa on the other hand, still has an old line, can't run the ball, and has a defense that seems a full step slower than the violent teams of the past. Gradkoswki looks like he might be the long term answer to the QB merry-go-round in Tampa, but that doesn't mean he'll be great this year.
My pick? *Take the Bengals*. (Personal Pick #2)

I saw KC losing that badly. Game was too vital and in Pittsburgh to boot.
I saw TB winning, despite Simms being out. Gradkowski's a better QB anyway.
I can't fucking believe you picked Houston over Dallas, even with your rationalizing, you should have known TO was going to get serious action after never getting the ball last week.
NO and Phi were a surprise but I didn't bet on it.

This is another week where teams went fucking haywire, and no one... Not pros, not amatuers, no one, could pick anything worth a damn this week without pure fucking luck. No one could see KC losing THAT big, or Cincy losing at all.
Now, on that matter, I'm currently sitting at 6-5 overall, favorites were 4-7.
