I had never seen that piece before and it got me interested.
At only 22 years old, Natalie Shau was born in Lithuiana but now attends The Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London. She is primarily a CG artist who has specialized in a wide range of fields, from illustration to photography. A member of photo.net, deviantart.com, and the MySpace.com Artists Group, she has used the internet to gain a loyal following of fans as well as fame. Despite her youth, she has had her artwork already featured in multiple magazines and done illustrations for various bands and music labels, including Lacuna Coil; without yet even receiving her BA degree.

They are suppose to be introducing perhaps unknown artists to the members of Ubersite or showing praise to certain artists that are well known. The purpose of the text is simply to give a slight background to the images below. When one presents FACTS about another individual, often the writer needs sources to provide dates and names.
