McDonalds here in Australia calls them fries too, which is very irritating. I make a point of asking for chips, to which they always reply "Yep, so that's one regular fries, one..." and stare at me smugly.

If it makes you feel any better, I do the same thing when people order fries. I make the point of calling them chips and the customers always, "yeah, so those are fries then, yeah? I'll have fries."

I just started working at Outback steakhouse. We act australian and have a bonzer time and throw boomerangs and wrestle alligators and all that shit. I've started calling them chips too. It sounds a lot better than fries. I still dont eat them.

I saw Pearl Jam and Sonic Youth in Las Vegas last July, they were pretty good. Sonic Youth sucked though, they sounded like they were high their whole set.
