First let me say, bare with me till the end and if you still hate it I welcome constructive criticisms.
First we must discuss what money is and what tax is. Money (in our country) has no intrinsic value. It's basically worthless paper assigned a value predicated on a promise of the US Government. Money is essentially an IOU for value you put into society. If you work an hour for $5/hour you put something of value into the economy and you have yet to take something back. You put $5 of value into the economy and you have an IOU for $5 worth of anything you want to take back out the economy at any time you like.
So having a lot of money in and of itself really only means you put more into the economy than you take back out in return. Being poor or having debt means you've taken more out than you put in. I can hear the liberal idealists whining already about the rich elite blah blah. Just hold it till I'm finished.
Taxing on the other hand is basically a deterrent. Cigarette smoking is bad, let's tax it. Living like a king in ridiculous excess is bad, it's greedy it's gluttonous, let's tax it with a luxury tax. Etc. Earning income isn't bad though, why is it taxed? Why would you want to discourage that activity - putting more into the economy than you take out?
If somebody wants to be a billionaire and live in a cardboard box and never pay a dime of taxes that's fine with me. Why should we care? He may have all that money but he's not spending it. In fact it's sitting in the bank where regular Joe's like you and in can borrow it to buy homes and cars. More money in the bank = more supply to borrow. More supply = lower cost. Everyone knows the law of supply and demand. That's good for us all. The guy with a billion dollars stuffed in his mattress living in a shack is not the guy we all hate. The guy we all hate is the one Hollywood douche bag that earned a whole lot of money for doing a whole lot of nothing and has 4 Bentleys, 2 Ferrari's, six houses all over the world, a private Jet and a rock worth six figures on his slutty girlfriend's finger and to top it all off avoids the majority of taxes through a high paid accountant and tax attorney. He will be addressed below, read on.
1.) Abolish all current forms of taxes, get rid of them. We are only going to have one type of tax and it's going to be very simple. Most importantly there will be NO income tax.
2.) Establish a consumption tax at whatever rate necessary to ensure that the government receives the same revenue
it was receiving under the old tax plan. Don't confuse it with a sales tax. If you think of that term it may sound high. I don't know what the number will be. It might be 25% or 30%. That would sound absurd as a sales tax but you have to keep in mind, you aren't paying income tax any more. You aren't paying real estate tax. You aren't paying capital gains tax. Nothing else. At the end of the day you're most likely paying less and you are paying in accordance with how you choose to live and nothing else.
3.) To address all the bleeding heart liberals, those that are really at the bottom of the barrel income-wise are exempt.
Under this plan all of the people that everyone hates so much, the ultra-ueber rich pay the lions share of the taxes. The ONLY way to avoid it is if they want to live like paupers. There are no fancy loopholes, tax refunds, deductibles, write-offs. It's all gone. It's plane and simple, you want a Bentley you're gonna pay. You want to live like a reasonable person you will pay a reasonable amount of taxes. They may have alot of money but it really doesn't matter, in order to do ANYTHING with that money it will be taxed. We should tax consumption not production. Every person will pay according to how they live. The more you have, the more you consume the more you pay. It's linear. It's fair.
It gets better than that though. Think of all the mindless useless bearcats it puts out of business. All those government workers that serve no purpose other than justifying their own existence and consuming our tax dollars creating forms and processes you need a lawyer to understand. Legislators creating tax codes the size of a phone book. It's all gone. It's done. It's simple. You buy it, you use it, you pay for it and you get taxed on it.
This will never happen of course because of all the useless government employees and politicians that would loose their jobs but imagine what a better place the world be with this simple change. Imagine how much easier your life would be. No tax refunds, no waiting in line at HR block, no keeping records of endless bullshit for fear of an audit. It's all gone.
To sum it up:
The poor and struggling won't pay a thing.
The middle class that lives reasonably will pay a hell of a lot less. If not because of all the government expense in the ridiculous bureaucracy that's eliminated because they're actually taxed on their lifestyle and consumption rather than an endless scheme of tax brackets, deductibles, write-offs and forms that only a lawyer can decipher.
The people that live like fat cats are going to pay out the fucking nose for living that way. Suddenly it becomes very amusing to watch all these celebrities, sports stars, CEO's and the like on TV with their fancy houses, cars and private jets. You will have a big smile on your face knowing that for just one of those extravagant items they paid 10 times more for the social services we ALL consume than you will in the next 5 years.
The environmentalist and tree hugger groups have got to love it as well. This discourages wasteful consumption of ANYTHING. When the only tax there is one based upon consumption EVERYONE will become alot more concientious about what they consume, when they consume and how much of it they consume. Alot of waste will be eliminated not just in terms of government beuracracy but in terms of actual physical waste in our landfills.
Other than protecting the jobs of beuracrats what is the argument against this?

Are you really that stupid? First of all the poor are exempt. The middle class are going to be paying alot less than they are no, and the largest CONSUMERS are going to be paying most of the taxes.

Furthermore I am dismayed at the preponderance of stupid here. I see alot of "this sucks" with not one single hint of a counter-argument or better proposal. I guess I have answered my own question about why there are no politicians to address those of us who are not insane, or stupid, or some combindation thereof....
