Firstly, Kinky Friedman is a great candidate.
He doesn't know everything and doesn't claim to, but that's what's so great about him. If he doesn't know something, he'll tell you, honestly, but make sure to find someone who can explain it to him. Ultimately, that's a big part of what a great executive (or any leader) does: surround himself with geniuses who guide him towards the right decisions.
Secondly, the other candidates suck!
Bell is completely unknown, and Kinky is AHEAD OF HIM IN THE POLLS!
Seriously, a vote for Bell steals votes from Kinky, not the other way around.
Perry is a douche for so many reasons:
-He kicked millions of kids of CHIPS (health insurance). "Sorry kiddies, ya should've been born rich!"
-His only supporters are the radical, Christian right, which in itself is not so bad, but...
-Because of their support, he pushes an anti-freedom (seriously, the waning of Civil Rights), anti-woman agenda.
-He supports TAKS achievement testing for Texas schools.
-He wants to base teacher salaries and school funding on it. Once again, "Sorry kiddies, ya should've been born rich!"
-There are more.
Hutchinson sucks and somehow finagled the Texas State Teachers Association (TSTA) support by misrepresenting her stance on TAKS.
As my friend, John Calvin Jones, editor of Virtual Citizens (.com), points out:
"The Head of the TSTA, Donna New Haschke, said that Ms. Strayhorn wanted to get rid of the TAKS. When challenged [John called them], Haschke protested saying that Strayhorn only wanted to use the TAKS as a diagnostic tool - which I agree would be admirable. But when pressed, Haschke admitted that Strayhorn's plan is to reward teachers and schools that produce superior TAKS results - i.e. use the test as a measure of achievement! By the way, Strayhorn's plan is really different from that currently used in Texas. Strayhorn wants to give school districts money one year after their test results. The present system has a two-year lag."

Thirdly, Kinky could repair a lot of injustice committed by the executive branch in Texas during the reign of Perry, like:
-Cease all arrests and prosecutions, statewide, for Public Intoxication (PI) when the accused are non-violent and non-disruptive. From the Dallas Morning News (http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-144802324.html):
"Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission can come unsolicited into a bar or restaurant and arrest someone for public intoxication."
The governor has the authority to stop this.
-Cease all further drug arrests for mere possession. This will keep hundreds of thousands of kids who did nothing other than make the careless decision of taking drugs illegally from losing their financial aid money or going to prison.
-The governor may also pardon many drug arrests for mere possession, relieving the over-crowded prisons (which also have a high escape rate). As Kinky points out, including federal, state and county prisons and jails Texas has more people in prison than there are people in the entire state of Alaska.
Kinky can do a tremendous amount of good for Texas, and cannot make it worse than it already is. He has a straight-line pragmatism in problem-solving, and like Kinky says, "How hard could it be?"

It's in the rules.
-----------
1) There's a category called "Politics", which I used.
2) This is an expression of argumentative writing, and since this is for "serious writers", it is appropriate.
3) You're a tool.
---
Fine, -2 for +2ing yourself and -2 because, like you said, I'm a tool.
Also I don't see how a local political election, which is irrelevant to the vast majority of the site, and is just a blatant endorsement for some politician in Texas is truly appropriate.
Oh before I forget, since I wasn't around to -2 your first post you can consider this my make-up

Please pull around to the second window sir.

You know, I'm pretty new to Ubersite, but I like it a lot. Still, after I read your first post where you said, "It's in the rules," I looked around for these rules. Usually when a site has rules (Terms of Service or TOS), they make them readily available. I had a hard time finding them, so I emailed Bart. The exchange when as shown below.
To sum, though, this site is for writers, and there are no correct topics, hence the categories. I also clearly state the scope of the topic in the title - VOTE KINKY! (for Texas). If you do not want to read it because it is not relevant to you, don't.

Letter from Bart:
Hi,
He's full of it. You can post whatever you want as long as it isn't grotesquely offensive or otherwise illegal in the US.
There are some users that don't like political topics and will rate them negatively on that factor alone, but there is no "official" rule on such.
Thanks,
bart

Anyone stupid enough to call themselves "Kinky" can't possibly have the competence necessary to run a state.

I say George W. should run again
----------
Why? Perry was just the natural continuation of W's fundamentalist agenda.
The only difference, was W, at the time, was an effective governor because he got the parties to work together. He didn't bring up many radical ideas, and really, there was nothing too radical to do.
I should also clarify that just because a governor is effective, does not mean I agree with him or liked what he did. Efficacy for a governor is measured in terms of accomplishing their goals. Thus, they can still have stupid goals.
