That photo helped end the Vietnam war (the original) from what I remember. Americans were horrified at the thought of executing people on the streets with no trial, regardless of what that individual might have done. Oh how the old west is so far gone from us! What happened to the DNA of the western pioneers? Even the mormons massacred people in cold blood! (Google: Mountain meadows massacre)
While Nancy Pelosi now wields considerable power, it is still the other way around. Bush can shoot down anything the democrats try to push through.
Overall I think the elections were good for the American people. This is a constant chess game and I'm glad the democrats are going to play it rather than consider the game won because it certainly isn't over.
Pelosi is talking about bipartisanship and working with Bush rather than impeachment, trying to push an agenda (that will fail due to Bush's veto power), etc. I think this will make democrats stronger. Their constant use of the term "common good" which seems to be on the rise worries me, though. It is of the "common good" that welfare-riding blacks from the cities get jobs, but do you think that will happen? Oh how these major cities are in such a mess 40 years after rioting and business pullouts from black communities. Detroit has yet to recover even in the smallest way.
I think it is possible for the democrats to make gains politically on the national level, but I don't understand why they are given free passes on the local level as every major city seems to have democrat mayors and have bad crime, etc. You can't demand business move into high-crime, low-educated, high-tax cities and expect them to do well.
It takes effort by EVERYONE to make this country better. I do not think a wide section of the population is willing to put in effort to make it happen.

No, the Holocaust is connected to WWII. I was referring to Iraq being the metaphorical death of George Bush's legacy, and the similarities to Vietnam's effect on LBJ's place in history.
This photograph from the Vietnam war serves two purposes, the firing of the weapon itself, which represents...aw forget it.
But the Holocaust thing might work, too, now that you mention it.
