I read a post today (to lazy to link) about a kid who was beaten by his parents, this got me to thinking about the UK's veiws and the practical use of violence against children.
Kids these days are little pussies! That is because their teachers, relatives, and even parents (UK not sure about US) are not allowed to hit them any more. I totally understand that actually beating your child is completely unacceptable, but when I was young my dad would crack me on the back of the legs with a bamboo cane. Sounds harsh, but he did this once, maybe twice and from then on he could use just the fear of a swipe to control me. I think that was a perfect balance. Of course in the present a kid who just got hit by his dad's cane, no matter what he did to deserve this "lesson" could and probably would tell teachers, police, childline etc and get their parents done! This completely underminds the parents authority and ruins any chance of them bringing up a respectful, well behaved kid. Which leads to the situation we have now in the UK, council house single parents having kids for the benefits just becuase they don't have the discepline to stick with a job or sort out and support their own home. The worst thing is that the kids of these council house "skallys" are now becoming respectless, jobless, hopeless, violent, aggressive teenagers roaming the streets, getting 15 year old girls pregnant so they can start the cycle all over again.
Obviously the lack of proper discepline isn't the only reason for the shitty situation in the UK, but this zero tollerence against even slightly violent discepline for kids has an enormous impact on the youth of today.
Bring back the cane in schools!

Just curl up somewhere and die. I'm not even going to bother listing the ways your posts piss me off.

"This completely underminds the parents authority and ruins any chance of them bringing up a respectful, well behaved kid."

So you're saying that physical discipline shouldn't just be acceptable, but that it's NECESSARY, and there's no chance a child can be raised properly without it.
"Respectless","discepline" and "tollerence"? How about bringing back the fundamentals of spelling and word structure in schools before you worry about the cane?

I hate giving out -2s, but this seemed poorly written and I think you should have considered other ways children aren't being brought up correctly instead of putting so much emphasis on caning.

I agree with you... more children should fear their parents...
with fear comes respect.. of sorts...
kids might actually listen to someone they fear &/or respect
the best teachers I ever had in school were the strictest ones
the no bullshit, follow the rules ones...
my father was the same way..
set up boundaries.. set up consequences...

trying to control your children through violence or fear of violence is disgusting.
and unneeded if you're an attentive parent.

I think you'll find that the reason why white British scum exist is BECAUSE of violence.
Sure 1 or 2 percent of families could use violence in a 'positive' way, but the vast majority who would use violence would over use and abuse their authority.
I completely disagree with this short, half assed, loosley factual pile of crap. It's fine to advocate an alternative stance on something, but at least put forward an idea with more than a drunken conversation had at 11:15 before th pub closes.
Write something of value, then we can judge you and tell you wyou're wrong or right.
