Aside from that fact, I have heard that Michael Richards is, and always was, a grade-A asshole.
When a couple of brothers heckled him by saying that he wasn't funny, he attacked their race. It really isn't anything Chris Rock would have done but he is simply the right color to do it.
I find the argument to be funny. Michael Richards is NOT funny when someone isn't writing his material. Also, he is a rude individual to the public and his "fans".
I've heard a handful of stories about particular rude hollywood personalities and his name is brought up the same number of times as Wilford Brimley (one of the old guys from Cacoon that also appeared on Quaker oatmeal commercials).
Many celebrities are rude and could care less about anything other than themselves.
I remember a few episodes of MTV's Punk'd that were painful. Some of these actors acted like spoiled children when something didn't go their way. When they don't realize they are being filmed, the true colors come out and they are ugly colors (see: http://i6.ebayimg.com/06/i/08/7f/56/b7_1_sbl.JPG )
I really don't think Michael Richards hates black people. He was a just a crude asshole who sunk down to the lowest level to hurl an insult he knew would result in anger from those individuals. Kind of like when you tell a girlfriend that you screwed one of her friends and her telling you that you have a small dick. It is the nature of assholes to act like assholes.

So if a black comedian makes fun of a white person (especially a white woman (think Chapelle)) it's acceptable, but if a white comedian throws a few barbs (however poorly concieved) at a couple of black hecklers, they throw the race card at him. Being a Native and all, let me be the first to say that both your races are equal (if only in their stupidity).

i know you put "however poorly concieved" in there and all but cedric the entertainer saying "a yuck a yuck im a white boy that cant dance" and michael richards screaming "NIGGER NIGGER THERES A NIGGER!" is a little different.

I'm not talking about Cedric. I'm talking more Chapelle and his "wonderfully exploitive" view of women. Particularly white ones.
Frankly I could care less about some washed up Seinfeld character's take on race in America. I'm just sick to death of blacks always being the first to dish it out and the last to take it. Don't like being called a nigga? Well I dunno, Buckwheat, then maybe you shouldn't have called him a cracka. Reciprocity's a bitch that way.

Right after we all hook arms and sing the "Lets all get along song".
'Being human' is not a identifiable common denominator for us. We don't identify ourselves in such simplistic terms. We are what we are. Each of us complex and unique.
We don't view people as equals - but we can at least appreciate that we should.
Race is just one of the many factors we use to determine relative 'worth'. Class, personality, exposure, talent, power, money, height, weight, boob size, dick width, culture and language all play major roles as well.
We simplify things too much - but who has time for the details?
What we really need to do is explore our racial views. Educate ourselves on other cultures. Rid ourselves of our fear and ignorance. Prejudice is generally weak and lazy.\
Let's face it - we are shallow and caustic in many areas - just being human is what gets us into these problems in the first place.

I think he went a little beyond what is acceptible.

lol, and I love this one. Black people feel like it's OK for them to use the 'N' word because 'we' haven't lived in 'their shoes' and it's just not the same coming from a white person. First off, it's NOT YOUR SHOES....it's the shoes of your ancestors....listen to Bill Cosby, take a step back, and realize that there are unprecedented opportunies for minorities offered today (need i go on about the endless scholarships and increased chances of acceptance to prestigious universities that underprivilaged whites would have no chance of obtaining merely because of their skin color)! Quit complaining about how difficult life is and start taking advantage of these opportunties and make this place a better country in the process!!

This is NOT important. There is a poster at the bottom of the page on the link you cited that says it all:
It's OK for a black person to call a white persona a cracker or honky, but it is considered racist when it is the other way around.
It's OK for the NAACP, BET, and other race oriented organizations to exist and exclude other races, but it considered racist if someone starts a white only club.
It's OK for someone to say, "I'm proud to be black", but if someone says, "I'm prod to be white", they are labeled a racist.
Wow!!! The double standards are amazing. When are we going to drop our racial views and just be humans?

i saw the video of that this morning. he really lost it up there..
gary goldman was once heckled by a black man and instead of freaking out and hurling racial slurs at them he just said that if he wasnt so filled with white guilt, he'd really let them have it. it was funny. kramer was not but he was the MAN in UHF.
