I'm sure all of you have heard about this incident that happened at a comedy club. Seinfeld's Kramer, Who's government name is Michael Richards, went on a racial rampage on 2 blacks who were annoying him while he was performing a show. At one point he said "Fifty years ago we'd have you hanging upside down with a fork in your ass," in a reference to lynchings of blacks. Several people walked out and all hell broke lose. Eventually he walked off the stage.

we cant have equal rights if we keep deviding people into "minorities" everyone is an individual, and should be treated as such. even if he is a racist, why not berrate chris rock or dave chappelle or carlos mencia on the same note, sure mel gibson is an asshole, and michael richards may be too....
but all in all isnt anyone that points out or pays the "race" card in effect still a racist?
start trating everyone as individuals, and quit putting lables on everything, you only make yourself the racist.

ok, I was thinking of writing this in it's own post, but I didn't feel like waiting for tomorrow.
As far as the whole Micheal Richards thing goes, he doesn't deserve to be slammed by the media. did he overreact? yes. did he say stupid things? absoltely. should he have to apologize to the entire black community in order to continue his career? no.
if you insult a man, for whatever reason, you owe HIM an apology for the things you said, not everyone LIKE him who could be insulted for the same reasons. the fact is, except for native americans and the gays, there are no minorities in this country. no one has the advantage/disadvantage over any other group.
but the real meat and potatos of the issue is this: this is america, and we as americans have constitutionally protected speech. this is unconditonal, and includes anything that you may or may not be offended by. and if you think you can go through life without ever being offended by anyone for any reason, without ever hearing anything that goes against your beliefs, you're living in a fairy tale.
this is real life people, and in real life, some people say things other people will be offended by. does this give the offended the right to silence the offender? no. as has been said many times before, and has been ignored as many times before, if you don't like what you're seeing/hearing, it's your obligation to ignore it. change the t.v. channel, listen to another radio station, walk out of the club.
we're all adults, and we shouldn't need anyone to hold our hands and make everything safe and comfortable for us. and even though we don't all agree on what is moral or acceptable, there's enough room for all of it, and the option to decide what you're exposed to.
so I say to these people in the media: grow up. Micheal Richards gave a very sincere apology. he was on the verge of tears. he obviously feels terrible for his behavior. and after all is said and done, he didn't really have to apologize at all. cut the guy some slack.
and to the "african american community," get off your high horse. I think racism is stupid in all of it's manifestations, including yours. except for the assholes in the rural south, the only real rasists in this country are the black ones.
every white man has to be polite and inoffensive around black people, or else they are being racially insensitive. but a black man can call a white man "cracker" all day long, and it's totally exeptable. this kind of double standard is only perpetuating the issue.
if anyone has the right to be all up in arms about equal rights, it's the native americans. but that's a whole other story. and wow have I been ranting. I just wanted to get all this off my chest.

I hadn't heard about this. Interesting.
On another note I think none of the words used were racist. He said Nigger they said Kracka. it's not like either of the groups would get offended over the words used, but they chose to to cause shit.
The black people were quick to say kracka, he was quick to say nigger. It shows that if anything there was intolerance on both sides.

This was kind of my take on it. I don't feel that he was necessarily trying to be racist. I just saw a man that with no control over his actions. He was pissed off because the 2 guys were being disrespectful and since he didn't have much to go on, the only insults he could come up with were racist ones. I'm not saying that he was justified, but I understand.

I kept waiting for the punchline but there wasn't one.
It was just out and out racist.
Mind you having lived here it IS very, very annoying that people talk and talk through shows and movies and answer their phones etc and it is always, without exception 100% of the time, black people.
